Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in its latest advisory, has advised evaluators to maintain confidentiality regarding the evaluation process. The official statement by Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations at CBSE, advised evaluators of CBSE 12 board exam 2026 and CBSE exam class 10 against sharing confidential information on social media. The board’s remarks come at a stage when exams are being evaluated, as CBSE 10th board exams 2026 have recently wrapped up.

The official advisory was issued on the CBSE official website on 16th March 2026. It was addressed to the principals of the affiliated schools and signed by the Controller of Examinations. The official advisory can be found here:

What did the CBSE Board Say?

The latest statement advises evaluators of CBSE board exam 2026 to refrain from sharing their personal opinions, comments and experiences on social media. This is done with the intention to avoid any confusion or chaos, and maintain the confidentiality of the assessment process. In a 2-pointer framework, the advisory laid down emphasised:

  • The evaluation process is confidential and governed by strict protocols. Sharing any misleading information, experiences, or opinions related to evaluation on public platforms is strictly prohibited.
  • Any attempt to spread rumours or misrepresent facts on social media isa violation of professional conduct and may invite disciplinary action.

Incidents That Led to the CBSE Board’s Latest Advisory

The Ministry of Education highlighted in Lok Sabha that nearly 20 cases of misinformation and rumours were reported during CBSE board exams 2026, including CBSE class 12 and CBSE 10th board exams. The details were highlighted by the Union Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary. In a separate notice, the CBSE had also earlier warned against unauthorized usage of the CBSE name, CBSE logo and/or CBSE building images.

For example, a popular case of misleading information pertaining to CBSE class 12 emerged last week. A fake circular went viral on social media, claiming that class 12th CBSE English board exam had been rescheduled for 12th March, 2026 in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. However, the board was prompt to debunk the viral claim. The post took advantage of a volatile situation when the exam dates were actually changed by the board to 16th March 2026 owing to the ongoing geopolitical tensions.

A viral video of scanning the CBSE class 12 maths exam QR code

Additionally, a QR code on CBSE class 12th maths exam 2026 linking to a Youtube music video raised concerns regarding the question paper’s authenticity. Many short format videos went viral on social media where people scanned the QR code and ultimately landed on the Youtube video. The board, however, officially clarified it to be a part of their internal security check, assuring that the CBSE class 12th maths question paper was indeed authentic.

The board has been proactive in flagging any false claim to the general public. CBSE officials have also commented to be working closely with the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) and the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) to minimise the spread of exam related misinformation.
