Central Board of Secondary Education Postpones Class 10 and 12 Board Exams in Middle East Region
Central Board of Secondary Education has postponed Class 10 and 12 board exams scheduled for March 2, 2026, in several Middle East countries amid security concerns. The board will review the situation and announce revised examination dates soon.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations scheduled for March 2, 2026, in several Middle East countries due to the prevailing security situation in the region. The decision was announced on March 1, 2026, as a precautionary step to ensure student safety amid regional tensions.
The postponement applies to CBSE-affiliated schools located in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Revised examination dates will be announced after a situation review scheduled for March 3, 2026.
Official Notification and Administrative Action
According to the official CBSE notification, all Class 10 and Class 12 examinations planned for March 2 in the affected countries stand postponed.
CBSE Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj confirmed that the board will reassess regional conditions before announcing fresh exam dates. The communication has also been forwarded to Indian embassies, the Consul General of India in Dubai, and CBSE’s regional office in the UAE to ensure coordinated implementation.

Security Situation Behind the Decision
CBSE cited the current security environment in parts of the Middle East as the primary reason for postponement. Reports indicate that escalating geopolitical tensions, including developments linked to the Iran–Israel conflict, influenced the board’s decision to defer examinations temporarily.
The move aims to maintain safe examination conditions and avoid disruptions for students appearing abroad.
Clarification on Fake Circulars Circulating Online
The official announcement followed the spread of a fake circular on social media claiming cancellation of CBSE board exams due to warlike circumstances. CBSE clarified that only the March 2 examinations have been postponed, not cancelled, and advised students and schools to rely solely on official board communications.
Impacted Students and What Happens Next
Students appearing for the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations in the affected Middle East countries will receive updated schedules soon. The board has stated that decisions regarding examinations scheduled from March 5 onwards will depend on the evolving situation.
Candidates and schools are advised to regularly check CBSE’s official portals for updates regarding revised exam dates and further instructions.
