CUET Exam to Be Held in May This Year: Candidates Can Choose 5 Options from 37 Subjects

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) Undergraduate (UG) will be conducted in May this year, from May 11 to May 30. Online applications will be accepted from January 3 to January 30.  CUET has emerged as one of the most important entrance examinations for higher education, serving as a single gateway for admissions into central, state, deemed, and several private universities.

This year, the exam structure has been further streamlined to make the process simpler and more student-friendly. Candidates will be allowed to select up to five subjects from a total of 37 available subjects, marking a significant shift from earlier editions that offered a wider but more complex range of choices. More than 250 Universities accept CUET scores for admission into their UG programmes. Also, 49 Central Universities, including JNU, DU, BHU, AU, and AMU, accept CUET scores for admissions.

The 37 subjects offered in CUET are broadly divided into three categories:

• Languages: A total of 13 language options are available, including English, Hindi, and several regional and classical languages. This ensures inclusivity and allows students from diverse linguistic backgrounds to compete on an equal footing.

• Domain-Specific Subjects: There are 23 domain subjects covering major academic streams such as Science, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities.
