Eligibility Criteria for IAT 2026

According to the eligibility guidelines outlined on the official IISER admissions portal, candidates must meet these requirements to apply:

Academic Qualification Passed Class XII (or equivalent) in 2024, 2025, or appearing in 2026 from a board recognised by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) in India.
Subjects Studied At least three subjects among Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics at Class XII level. Mathematics is mandatory for programmes such as BS-MS in Computational and Data Sciences (IISER Kolkata), BTech programmes (IISER Bhopal), and BS in Economic Sciences/Economic and Statistical Sciences (IISER Bhopal/Tirupati).
Foreign Nationals/OCI Required to upload an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) unless meeting the Indian board criteria.
Pending Results Candidates whose Class XII results are awaited at the time of application are eligible, but final admission depends on meeting minimum requirements during verification.

The IAT remains the primary and only admission route for these programmes, with no mention of alternative channels like JEE Main, JEE Advanced, or previous schemes in the current schedule.

These programmes emphasise interdisciplinary learning, early research exposure, and fully residential facilities with access to advanced labs and year-long MS thesis projects for dual-degree students.
