IIT Delhi Empowers Professionals with Advanced Robotics Skills as It Unveils Third Cohort of Its Executive Programme

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has unveiled the third cohort of its Executive Programme in Robotics, a five-month intensive course designed to empower mid-career professionals with expertise in automation, AI, and intelligent systems. The curriculum features six core modules covering sensing, motion, embedded control, and mechatronics, blending deep theory with hands-on practice. Participants engage in practical elements such as CAD, 3D printing, and ROS training, culminating in a capstone project where they build and program a robot from scratch. Delivered in a flexible Direct-to-Device format, the program also includes an exclusive campus immersion day, ensuring graduates are equipped to meet the surging industry demand for skilled robotics talent.

In response to the rapidly evolving landscape of automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and intelligent systems, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has officially launched admissions for the third cohort of its flagship Executive Programme in Robotics — a five-month intensive designed to equip mid-career professionals with cutting-edge robotics competencies

As technology continues to reshape industry and society, demand for professionals fluent in robotics engineering, embedded systems, AI and automation has surged. This programme — positioned at the intersection of theory and hands-on practice — aims to build job-ready talent capable of driving innovation in sectors ranging from manufacturing to service automation.

A Holistic Curriculum for the Robotics Era

The Executive Programme in Robotics blends deep technical learning with strategic insight, offering participants a comprehensive curriculum structured into six core modules. These include Robotics and Automation; Sensing and Perception; Actuators and Motion; Modelling; AI and Machine Learning; Embedded Control and Mechatronics; and Future Directions and Applications.

Beyond theoretical foundations, the programme integrates vibrant practical elements such as CAD design, 3D printing, Arduino programming, AI/ML for robotics, DIY robotics and Robot Operating System (ROS) training. Each participant is also expected to complete a capstone project, during which they build and program a robot from scratch — a hallmark feature that reinforces real-world skill application.

Instruction is delivered in a flexible, live, interactive “Direct-to-Device” (D2D) format, enabling remote learners to engage with faculty, industry experts, and hands-on tools. An exclusive one-day campus immersion at the IIT Delhi campus further enriches the experience by allowing participants to interact firsthand with the institute’s academic and research ecosystem.

Bridging the Skills Gap in Robotics and Automation

According to industry research, the global robotics market is set for significant expansion in the coming decade, with projections suggesting millions of robots entering commercial and industrial use by 2030. This momentum underscores the urgency for skilled professionals who can bridge the gap between mechanical systems, intelligent sensing, and autonomous operation.

At the announcement, Prof. Arnab Chanda, Programme Coordinator and Associate Professor at IIT Delhi, emphasized that robotics today transcends traditional automation, blending AI, advanced sensing, and intelligent systems design. He highlighted the programme’s value in equipping engineers and technologists with the capability not only to design and program cutting-edge systems but also to deploy them responsibly in high-impact sectors.

Who Should Apply?

The programme is tailored for graduates with a minimum of 50% marks and is particularly suited for engineers, technologists, product managers, and professionals seeking to transition into robotics, embedded systems, AI-driven automation, and related domains. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Successful Completion from IIT Delhi, signifying advanced expertise in the field.

Industry Relevance and Future Opportunities

As India climbs global robotics adoption rankings — boosted by sectors like automotive manufacturing — demand for skilled professionals continues to rise. By offering a blend of technical mastery, industry insights, and practical implementation, the Executive Programme aims to prepare participants not just for current challenges, but for shaping the future of intelligent machines and collaborative robots (“cobots”).

About IIT Delhi’s Vision

IIT Delhi — consistently ranked among India’s premier engineering institutions — has expanded its academic offerings in recent years to include a suite of executive and online certificate programmes in emerging technologies. These initiatives reflect the institute’s broader commitment to lifelong learning and to empowering professionals to remain future-ready in an era defined by digital transformation.

With its third cohort now open for admissions and set to begin in March 2026, the Executive Programme in Robotics presents a timely opportunity for professionals to deepen their robotics expertise, accelerate innovation, and lead technological advancements across industries.
