JEE Main 2026 April 8 Session 2 Live Updates

JEE Main 2026 April 8 Session 2 Live Updates: Exam Day Guidelines and Shift 2 Timings

JEE Main 2026 Session 2 concludes today, April 8, with the final shift starting at 3 PM and entry closing strictly at 2:30 PM. Provisional answer keys are expected by April 11, and the final results with All India Ranks are anticipated by April 20.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is concluding the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 today. For thousands of engineering aspirants, the final hurdle is the afternoon shift, which begins at 3:00 PM. Unlike previous days, there was no morning shift today, making this the grand finale for the April session.

As students head to their centers, here is a breakdown of what you need to know about the schedule, the strict entry rules, and when you can expect your results.

JEE Main 2026 Shift 2 Timings and Entry Deadlines

The NTA follows a very strict timeline. If you are appearing for the 3 PM exam, you must be at the center much earlier. Gate closing times are non-negotiable, and security protocols are rigorous.

Event Time
Reporting Time 1:00 PM
Gate Closing Time 2:30 PM sharp
Exam Starts 3:00 PM
Exam Ends 6:00 PM

Note for Aspirants: Security checks, including biometric registration and frisking, take time. If the gates close at 2:30 PM, they will not reopen for anyone, regardless of the reason. Aim to be inside the premises by 2:00 PM to ensure you are seated and calm before the clock starts.

Essential Checklist: Admit Card and Exam Day Documents

To avoid any last-minute panic at the gate, ensure you have these items ready. Security personnel will verify these before allowing entry:

  • Admit Card: A clear printout (A4 size) of your JEE Main Session 2 admit card.

  • Self-Declaration: The undertaking form on the admit card must be filled out, and your photograph should be pasted before you reach the center.

  • Photo ID: An original, valid government ID (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, or Passport). Photocopies are generally not accepted.

  • Passport Photo: At least one spare color photograph (the same one used in your application) to be pasted on the attendance sheet inside.

  • Transparent Pen: A simple ballpoint pen if you prefer your own, though centers usually provide one.

Prohibited Items: Electronic gadgets, mobile phones, watches (including analog), and jewelry are strictly banned. The NTA also enforces a specific dress code: avoid thick-soled shoes and clothes with large buttons or multiple pockets.

NTA JEE Main 2026 Answer Key and Result Date

Once the exam ends at 6 PM today, the focus will immediately shift to performance evaluation. Here is the anticipated timeline for the post-exam process:

Expected Answer Key Release

Historically, the NTA is quite fast. You can expect the Provisional Answer Key and your recorded response sheets to be released between April 10 and April 11, 2026. Students will have a window of 2–3 days to challenge any answers they believe are incorrect by paying a processing fee (typically around ₹200 per question).

JEE Main 2026 Final Result Date

The final results, including the All India Ranks (AIR) and the cutoff for JEE Advanced, are expected to be announced by April 20, 2026. This quick turnaround is necessary as registrations for JEE Advanced are scheduled to begin shortly after the results are finalized.

Last Minute Preparation and Paper Analysis

So far, the April session has seen a mix of “Easy to Moderate” papers. While Physics and Chemistry have been largely based on NCERT and considered scoring, Mathematics has continued its reputation for being “lengthy and calculation-heavy.”

Experts suggest that because this is the final day, the competition for the top percentiles might be tight. Students in this final shift have had the advantage of seeing the trends from the past week, but the NTA often balances this by introducing unique problem variations in the closing shift.

To all the students appearing for the final shift: stay calm, read the questions carefully, and manage your time wisely. Good luck!
