Detailed Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme

Understanding the structure of the KCET 2026 is crucial for final-week preparations. The exam remains a Pen & Paper (Offline) test using OMR sheets.

  • No Negative Marking: One of the biggest advantages for KCET aspirants is the absence of negative marking. For every correct answer, you get +1 mark, but no marks are deducted for incorrect or unattempted questions.

  • Total Marks: Each subject (Physics, Chemistry, Math/Biology) consists of 60 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), totaling 180 marks for the standard PCM or PCB streams.

  • The OMR System: The KEA uses a two-sheet OMR system. The top sheet is for evaluation, while the bottom sheet is a “carbon copy” that candidates are allowed to take home after the exam to cross-verify with the official answer key later.

Eligibility Checklist for KCET 2026

While the hall ticket is now out, candidates must ensure they meet the final academic eligibility to secure a seat during counseling:

  • Engineering (B.E./B.Tech): Must have passed 2nd PUC/Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry/Biology/Biotech/Computer Science. A minimum of 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC) is required in these subjects.

  • Pharmacy: Requires Physics, Chemistry, and either Mathematics or Biology.

  • Architecture: Though KCET handles the counseling, candidates must have a valid NATA or JEE Main Paper 2 score.

What to Check on Your KCET Hall Ticket?

Once you download the file, ensure the following details are correct:

  • Candidate’s Name: Must match your 10th-grade records.

  • Exam Center Address: Check the exact location to avoid last-minute confusion.

  • Roll Number & Application Number: Ensure these are clearly printed.

  • Photograph & Signature: Both should be visible and not blurred.

Correction Help: If you find any error in your name, category, or photo, contact the KEA helpdesk immediately at 080-23460460 or email keauthority-ka@nic.in. The KEA office is located at 18th Cross, Sampige Road, Malleshwaram, Bengaluru.

Important Exam Day Instructions

  • Reporting Time: Reach the exam center at least 60 minutes before the session begins.

  • Documents Needed: You must carry the printed Admit Card and a valid Photo ID (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Passport).

  • Prohibited Items: Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and any Bluetooth devices are strictly banned.

  • Stationery: Use only a Blue or Black ink ballpoint pen to shade the OMR sheet. Pens with gel ink or pencils are not permitted for marking.

Why is the KCET Admit Card Important?

The admit card is not just an entry pass for the examination hall; it is a vital document required during the KCET Document Verification and Counselling process. Students are advised to keep a digital copy saved on Google Drive or email for future safety.

The 2026 session of KCET sees a record number of registrations, and competition is expected to be high. With the admit card out, students are now in the final leg of their preparation
