The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has officially opened online registration for Balvatika (Levels 1, 2 & 3) and Class 1 admissions for the academic session 2026-27 from 10:00 AM today. The last date to apply is April 2, 2026. Admission to Balvatika and Class 1 will be purely lottery-based. Therefore, there will be no written test or interview. Parents can register their children on the official portal at admission.kvs.gov.in.

How to Apply for KV Balvatika Admission 2026-27?

1. Visit the official portal: https://admission.kvs.gov.in
2. Click on “New Registration”
3. Enter child and parent details
4. Generate login credentials
5. Fill the form and select up to 3 preferred Kendriya Vidyalayas
6. Upload required documents
7. Submit and take a printout of the confirmation page

Complete List of Documents Required

After lottery selection, parents must submit the following (scanned copies to be uploaded during registration):

• Birth Certificate (issued by Municipal Corporation or equivalent)
• A passport-size photograph of the child
• Proof of Residence (Aadhaar / Voter ID / Passport / Rent Agreement)
• Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS, if applicable)
• Service Certificate of the parent (issued by the employer)
• Transfer Certificate (if applicable)
• Medical Fitness Certificate (for CWSN candidates)
• Aadhaar Card of child and parent (optional but recommended)

Special Provisions for Children with Special Needs (CWSN)

• Up to 2 years of age relaxation
• 3% horizontal reservation across all categories
• Separate medical board verification may be required at the time of admission

Detailed Age Eligibility Criteria (as on 31 March 2026)

KVS has fixed clear age limits for each level:

• A child born on April 1 is also considered eligible.
• Children with Special Needs (CWSN) can get up to 2 years of age relaxation.

How the Lottery-Based Selection Works

After registration closes on April 2, KVS will conduct a computerised lottery draw.

• Selection is completely transparent and random.
• Priority is given as per the parent’s service category (Central Govt employees, Defence personnel, PSUs, etc.).
• No entrance test or interview is conducted for Balvatika or Class 1.

After the Lottery: What Happens Next?

• Provisional lists will be displayed on the portal in April 2026.
• Selected candidates must report to the school with original documents and pay the admission fee within the given deadline.
• If seats remain vacant after the first list, the second and third lists will be released.
• Admission is confirmed only after document verification and fee payment.

Seat Reservation in Each Class 1 Section (40 Seats)

• 25% seats are reserved under the Right to Education (RTE)
• 15% for SC
• 7.5% for ST
• 27% for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)
• 3% horizontal reservation for Children with Special Needs (CWSN)
