The National Testing Agency (NTA), on behalf of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), is expected to release the provisional answer key for the NIFTEE 2026 Stage 1 examination on 15th February 2026, based on previous year trends. The NIFT entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate programs was conducted on February 8, 2026. The General Ability Test (GAT) answer key will be released on the official portal exams.nta.nic.in/niftee. This applies to candidates who appeared for admissions to B.Des, B.F.Tech, M.Des, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M programs across NIFT campuses in India.

Candidates can download the provisional answer key, question paper, and recorded responses to estimate scores and raise objections if required. No answer key is released for the Creative Ability Test (CAT), which is evaluated separately.

Once released, candidates can access the provisional answer key and related materials through their individual login credentials on the official NTA portal. The authority has not announced the exact release date yet, but the process is expected to follow the standard procedure used in previous years.

  1. Visit the official NTA NIFT portal at exams.nta.nic.in/niftee.
  2. Click on the link for “NIFT 2026 Provisional Answer Key” or “View Question Paper & Response Sheet” (the link will be activated upon release).
  3. Enter your application number, date of birth, and security pin as displayed on the screen.
  4. Log in to access your candidate dashboard.
  5. Select the option to download the provisional answer key PDF.
  6. Download the question paper and recorded response sheet if available in the same section.
  7. Save and print the documents for reference while checking answers or preparing objections.

Additionally, the recorded response sheet can also be downloaded separately from the NIFT admission portal nift.ac.in/admission using the same login credentials.

Updates for Stage 2 Examination Process

Following the Stage 1 result declaration, shortlisted candidates will proceed to Stage 2, which includes the Situation Test for B.Des programs and Personal Interview/Group Discussion for postgraduate programs. According to the official NIFT admissions guidelines and information bulletin, the Situation Test/Studio Test, Personal Interview, and document verification for regular and NLEA candidates are tentatively scheduled for April/May 2026. The exact dates, venues, and call letters will be announced on the NIFT official website www.nift.ac.in after the Stage 1 result.

Objection Raising Process After Answer Key Release

Candidates who identify errors in the provisional answer key can challenge them during the objection window, typically open for 2–3 days after release.

  1. Log in to the candidate portal on exams.nta.nic.in/niftee using application number and password.
  2. Navigate to the “Challenge Answer Key” or “Raise Objection” section.
  3. Select the question(s) you wish to challenge and provide justification or supporting documents if required.
  4. Pay the non-refundable fee of INR 200 per challenged question (except for valid objections, which may be refunded after review).
  5. Submit the challenges and note the transaction ID for future reference.
  6. Track the status of objections through the portal; final answer key will incorporate accepted corrections.

Important Instructions for Candidates

  • The provisional answer key applies only to the GAT section; CAT remains subjective and non-challengeable.
  • Objections must be submitted within the specified window; no late challenges are accepted.
  • Use the recorded response sheet to cross-verify marked answers before raising objections.
