Parul University in Vadodara, Gujarat, received a bomb threat via email which prompted panic in the whole campus. Authorities had to evacuate students and staff immediately. Following this incident, the internal examinations were postponed. Police and security teams searched the complete university premises thereafter.
Campus Evacuated After Threat Email
The police officials informed, a bomb threat through email was sent to the university which initiated the panic. Following the alert, local police, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), dog squads, and other security units rushed to the site and began a detailed search operation.
The security and authorities acted promptly in this situation and evacuated the students and faculty members to ensure their safety. However, this large-scale evacuation led to a huge traffic congestion around the Waghodia Road area, where the university is located. Authorities later confirmed that no suspicious objects or explosive devices were found during the security checks.
Exams Cancelled, To Be Rescheduled
Following the security alert and evacuation, the internal examinations were cancelled. It is confirmed that once the operations resume on the campus, the exams will be rescheduled.
Parul University is one of Gujarat’s large private universities, with a student population exceeding 65,000 students, including thousands of international students from more than 70 countries.
Similar Threat Emails Sent Across Gujarat
Several institutes across Gujarat received a similar threat through email. Investigators suggest that this was also a part of the broader series of hoax messages. Earlier similar emails were also received by passport offices and post offices in cities such as Ahmedabad, Surat and Rajkot.
Security agencies carried out searches at these locations as well, but no explosive materials were discovered, confirming that the threats were false alarms intended to create panic.
Investigation Underway
Police and cybercrime teams have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the threatening emails and identify those responsible. Authorities said such hoax threats are taken seriously because they disrupt public services and create fear among citizens.
Officials have urged institutions and the public to remain calm and report any suspicious communication to law-enforcement agencies as the investigation continues.
