The Subordinate Services Selection Board, Punjab (PSSSB) announced a reschedule of written clerk examinations on its official website on 16th March 2026. PSSSB clerk exam dates via Advertisement No. 08 of 2025 (Group D) and Advertisement No. 02 of 2026 (Group C) have officially been rescheduled. The new PSSSB clerk exam date for Group D is now 5th April 2026 (as opposed to 1st March 2026). The new PSSSB clerk exam date for Group C is now 19th April 2026 ( as opposed to 5th April 2026). 

The board issued its latest notice from the official address in S.A.S Nagar and was signed by Aparna Mehra, PCS Secretary,  PSSSB. The notice also informed the candidates that details regarding the PSSSB clerk admit cards will be issued on the official website itself at https://sssb.punjab.gov.in/. What is the PSSSB Clerk Examination?

The PSSSB clerk exam is a state-level written examination conducted by the Subordinate Services Selection Board, Punjab (PSSSB). The exam aims to fill clerical posts across different departments in the Punjab government. These clerical roles involve administrative and office support duties, such as record-keeping, data entry, correspondence, file management, and other responsibilities essential to government functioning.

The latest notifications are regarding PSSSB Group C (Advt. No. 02 of 2026) and PSSSB Group D (Advt. No. 08 of 2025). Here are the differences between the two:

Group C (Clerical/Administrative Posts)

Group D (Support Staff Posts)

These are non-clerical, support roles such as Sewadar, Chowkidar, Mali, etc. The work is more physical or assistance-based in nature. This year, PSSSB clerk Group D has around 406 estimated vacancies.The PSSSB clerk exam date for Group D is 5th April 2026. 

  • Qualification: Generally 8th/10th pass
  • Skills required: Basic task-based work 
  • Selection process: Written exam
  • Pay level: Lower than Group C

  • Total Marks: 150 (1 mark per correct answer).
  • Duration: 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes).
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer in Part B (no negative marking in Part A).
  • Qualifying Requirement: Minimum 50% marks (25 out of 50) in Part A to have Part B evaluated for merit.
  • Medium: Bilingual (English and Punjabi).
  • Post-Written Stages: Qualifying candidates proceed to a typing test (Punjabi & English proficiency, typically 30 wpm), followed by document verification.

What is the PSSSB Clerk Salary?

The PSSSB clerk salary is determined as per the 7th Pay Commission guidelines, offering structured pay along with government benefits. The starting PSSSB clerk salary is ₹19,900 per month, along with Rs. 3,600 – Rs. 3,800 grade pay. The annual PSSSB clerk salary typically amounts to Rs. 2,38,000 to 2,40,000. During the initial probation period (usually three years), candidates are paid a fixed salary close to the basic pay. After successfully completing probation, employees become eligible for Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other benefits, which significantly increase the overall in-hand salary. At this stage, the monthly in-hand salary typically ranges between ₹30,000 to ₹38,000.

  • Basic Pay: ₹18,000 per month
  • Pay Scale: ₹18,000 – ₹56,900
  • Probation Period: Fixed salary with minimal allowances

PSSSB Clerk Recruitment 2025

The PSSSB Clerk Recruitment 2025 was delayed and later merged into the fresh Advertisement No. 02 of 2026 (Group C Clerk posts). Originally, the board had invited applications under Advt. No. 11/2025, but the exam process was later merged with the 2026 session. Candidates who had applied earlier were required to submit fresh applications by 6th March 2026.

After the PSSSB clerk exam 2026 written examination, there are two main levels: a typing test and document verification. Candidates qualifying the PSSSB clerk written exam will sit for a typing test. This test will examine their ability to efficiently type both English and Punjabi. Accuracy, speed and basic computing skills are main areas of focus.
