The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the revised annual examination calendar. The revised calendar has updated notification dates, application last dates, and tentative exam dates/months for all annual SSC competitive exams. According to the revised calendar, dates of major exams like the Combined Graduate Level (CGL), Central Police Organisation (CPO), Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL), Stenographer, Junior Engineer (JE), Multi Tasking Staff (MTS), and Constable (GD) recruitments. All these exams are conducted via CBT (Computer-Based Test) in their respective annual schedules.

New Dates of the Popular SSC Exams

The new revised SSC calendar 2026 includes dates of both non-technical and technical departmental posts. 

With the release of the revised SSC calendar, the most awaited SSC exam, which is the SSC CGL 2026 notification, will be released on 31, March, 2026. The online application window will close on 30, April, 2026. Moreover, the CGL Tier 1 exam will happen anywhere between July and September, 2026.

The Stenographer Grade C and D examination notification will be released on 30, April, 2026, with the application window closing on 31 May 2026. The exam is scheduled to happen during August and September 2026.

Talking of the technical posts, the most popular is the Junior Engineer (JE) examination 2026. The exam notification for this exam will be released on 30, April, 2026. And the application window will close on 31, May, 2026. The Paper 1 exam is scheduled for August and September, 2026.

Additionally, in the technical position recruitments, the Combined Hindi Translators Exam, 2026, is the next. The exam notification for this exam too, will be released on 30, April, 2026 and the application window will close on 31, May, 2026. The written exam for this recruitment will happen between August and September, 2026.

The revised SSC Calendar 2026 brings a clearer and more structured timeline for major examinations, with a few noticeable shifts in notification dates and exam windows. Compared to the earlier schedule, the Commission has streamlined multiple exam notifications into tighter clusters, especially during March and April 2026. 

One of the key changes is the advancement and consolidation of Tier-I (CBT) exam timelines. Exams like CGL and Junior Engineer are now scheduled within the May to June 2026 window, indicating a faster recruitment cycle. This suggests that SSC is aiming to reduce delays and complete the initial stages of recruitment earlier than usual.

Another notable shift is in the scheduling of language and skill-based exams like the Combined Hindi Translators and Stenographer examinations. These have been placed in the August to September 2026 window, creating a more balanced distribution of exams across the year.

The SSC CHSL exam follows a slightly different arc. The notification comes on 30, April, 2026, and the exam will happen between July and September, 2026. It also creates an interesting overlap where candidates preparing for both CGL and CHSL with marginal adjustments can prepare for both exams. Since these exams have a very similar syllabus to the Tier 1 exam.

However, there is a strong overlap between SSC JE and SSC CGL recruitments. The calendar places it alongside the other major exams’ timelines, like CGL and CHSL.
