TIFR Releases GS 2026 Shortlist; Mathematics Interview Dates Announced

TIFR has announced the GS 2026 shortlist based on the December 2025 entrance examination. Mathematics interview schedules for Mumbai and Bengaluru centres are now available, while dates for other programmes will be released soon.

The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) has released the list of shortlisted candidates for Graduate School (GS) 2026 admissions following the entrance examination conducted on December 14, 2025. Candidates can now check programme-wise interview shortlists on the official website, tifr.res.in.

The GS admission process enables entry into Integrated PhD (I-PhD) and PhD programmes in fundamental sciences across TIFR centres, including Mumbai and Bengaluru, for the academic session beginning August 2026.

How to Check the TIFR GS 2026 Shortlisted Candidates List

Applicants can access their results through the admissions portal by following these steps:

  • Visit the official TIFR website: tifr.res.in

  • Open the Admissions / GS-2026 section

  • Click on “Shortlisted for Interview”

  • Select the relevant subject or programme

  • Download the PDF containing shortlisted candidates’ details

Separate shortlists have been issued for different subjects, and no consolidated merit list has been announced at this stage.

Mathematics Interview Schedule for GS 2026

TIFR has released confirmed interview dates for Mathematics programmes:

  • TIFR Mumbai (Mathematics – I-PhD & PhD): March 15, 2026

  • Centre for Applicable Mathematics, Bengaluru: March 25–27, 2026

  • International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS), Bengaluru: Dates to be announced

Shortlisted candidates must attend interviews at their respective centres as scheduled.

GS 2026 Admission Process and Selection Criteria

The TIFR GS entrance examination serves as the primary screening stage for admission to advanced research programmes in Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Computer Science.

Depending on the programme, candidates may also be considered through national-level examinations such as:

  • GATE

  • JEST

  • CSIR-UGC NET

Final admission offers will be issued after interviews and evaluation stages. Candidates are advised to regularly monitor the official website for interview call letters and further updates.
