UP Govt Excludes Management Quota and On-Spot Admissions from UP Scholarship Scheme; Only merit-based students now eligible

The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced amendments to the Post-Matric Scholarship and Fee Reimbursement Scheme, making students admitted through management quota, spot admissions, or any other non-transparent process ineligible for financial benefits. According to the decision announced on January 12, 2026, only admissions conducted through a fully transparent mechanism will qualify for scholarship and fee reimbursement support in private educational institutions across the state.

Deputy Director Anand Kumar Singh stated that the changes apply equally to students from Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and the general category pursuing vocational or technical courses in private institutions. The policy mandates that eligible admissions must involve public advertisements inviting applications, preparation of a rank list, and publication of a selection list. Additionally, institutions must charge only fees approved by the competent authority or the fee regulatory committee.
