NEET PG 2026 Answer Key, Response Sheet Expected Today at natboard.edu.in
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is expected to release the NEET PG 2026 answer key and individual response sheets today, September 10, 2026, on its official websites, natboard.edu.in or nbe.edu.in. This release will allow over 2.65 lakh candidates who appeared for the medical postgraduate entrance examination to compare their marked responses with the provisional answer key and estimate their potential scores.
This marks the first time a provisional NEET PG answer key will be issued, a direct consequence of directives issued by the Supreme Court last year. The Supreme Court had mandated greater transparency in the examination process, including the publication of raw scores and a clear policy for answer key issuance, to ensure fairness for all candidates.
NEET PG 2026 Exam Details and Marking Scheme
The NEET PG 2026 examination was conducted on August 30, 2026, across 1,111 exam centres in 338 cities nationwide. A re-examination for affected students at Jaipur centres was also held on September 5, 2026. The computer-based test comprised 180 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for a maximum of 720 marks, with a specific marking scheme in place to evaluate candidate performance.
Says the NBEMS, for every correct answer, candidates are awarded 4 marks. Conversely, 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer, introducing negative marking into the evaluation process. No marks are added or deducted for questions that are left unanswered by the candidates. This marking scheme is crucial for candidates as they calculate their estimated scores using the provisional answer key.

What Happens After the Provisional Answer Key?
Following the release of the provisional answer key, the NBEMS is expected to open an objection window. During this period, candidates can challenge any questions or answers they believe are incorrect by submitting supporting evidence and paying a processing fee. The NBEMS will review these objections and, if deemed valid, will issue a final answer key. The NEET PG 2026 results are scheduled to be declared by September 30, 2026.
The Supreme Court’s directive, issued last year, included 10 specific guidelines for NEET PG, such as the publication of raw scores and a transparent answer key policy. These measures aim to enhance the credibility and fairness of the examination process. After the results, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct the counselling process for admission to various MD/MS and PG Diploma courses. Branches like MD in Radio-Diagnosis (Radiology) are known to be highly competitive and demanding in medical post-graduation.
NEET PG 2026 Result and Tie-Breaking Criteria
The NEET PG 2026 result, once declared, will determine candidates’ eligibility for postgraduate medical admissions. In cases where multiple candidates secure the same marks, the NEET PG 2026 information brochure includes detailed tie-breaking criteria. These criteria consider candidates’ performance in the examination and, where required, their aggregate percentage of marks obtained in all MBBS professional examinations.
