The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) today, October 9, 2026, released the seat matrix for the third and final counselling round of NEET UG 2026 for state quota medical and dental admissions in Punjab. This round aims to fill remaining vacant MBBS and BDS seats in both government and private colleges across the state.

A total of 808 vacant positions are available, comprising 307 MBBS seats and 501 BDS seats. This represents the last opportunity for eligible NEET-qualified candidates to secure a state quota seat in Punjab, with the provisional allotment result scheduled for October 10, 2026.

Overview of Vacant Seats and Categories

Out of the 307 vacant MBBS seats, approximately 175 are designated for NRI quota candidates, while 59 seats are reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) across the state. In the Open category, only 16 MBBS seats remain. For BDS courses, 501 seats are vacant, with NRI quota accounting for about 214 of these. Management quota seats constitute 366 of the total BDS vacancies, including 105 Scheduled Caste seats. Only 4 BDS seats are available in the Open category. Both Government Dental College, Amritsar, and Government Dental College, Patiala, have 9 vacant seats each.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has also released its Clear Vacancy Round 3 seat matrix for NEET UG Counselling 2026, listing 6585 clear vacancy seats across various participating institutes, courses, quotas, and categories nationally.

Counselling Schedule and Key Deadlines

The counselling process for Round 3 has been compressed into a two-week window. Fresh registration for eligible NEET-qualified candidates meeting Punjab’s domicile requirements was open from September 28 to October 2, 2026. Online choice filling was conducted from October 6 to 7, 2026, with seat allotment processing taking place from October 8 to 9, 2026. The provisional allotment result will be released on October 10, 2026.

Candidates have a window from October 12 to 14, 2026, to pay the balance fee and report to their allotted colleges with original documents. once a Round 3 seat is accepted, resignation is permanently locked, and candidates cannot withdraw until the course concludes. Withdrawing from Round 2 to participate in Round 3 results in the forfeiture of the security deposit from the previous round.

Registration and Security Deposit Details

The registration fee for SC/ST candidates was Rs 2,950, while for General and other categories, it was Rs 5,900. Security deposits vary based on the type of college and category. For government colleges only, SC/BC/PwD candidates paid a security deposit of Rs 5,000, while others paid Rs 10,000. To include private colleges in the choices, a security deposit of Rs 2,00,000 was required. This security deposit is refundable if a seat is not accepted or after the course concludes but is forfeited if a candidate resigns after accepting a Round 3 seat.

Candidates holding NRI quota status follow a separate application process and are not part of the general state quota counselling. Before the final allotment, BFUHS removes candidates who have joined an All India Quota seat, as per the Medical Counselling Committee’s (MCC) Round 3 joining data.
