Bodoland University (BU) is a public state university located in Kokrajhar, Assam. It was established in 2009 by the Bodoland University Act, 2009, passed in the Assam Legislative Assembly. The university is an upgradation of the Kokrajhar campus of Gauhati University into a full-fledged state university.
Bodoland University is the first university in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and serves the higher education needs of lower Assam in general and the BTR region in particular. The university also caters to students from neighboring states and countries like Bhutan, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
The picturesque campus is located at Rangalikhata, Debargaon, 8 kilometers north of Kokrajhar town. The university currently has 17 PG departments, 48 affiliated degree colleges, 4 DIETs, and 3 B.Ed colleges. It follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) as per UGC guidelines and has recently implemented the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) under NEP 2020.
