About University of Calicut
The University of Calicut (UoC), also known as Calicut University, is a public state university headquartered at Tenhipalam in Malappuram district of Kerala, India. Established in 1968, it is the second university to be set up in Kerala and the first university in northern Kerala. The university was created by bifurcating Kerala University to cater to the educational requirements and aspirations of the youth in the Malabar region.
The University of Calicut has emerged as the largest residential cum affiliating university in Kerala, with 34 postgraduate departments and 406 affiliated colleges spread across five northern districts of Kerala – Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, and Wayanad.
