About Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya

Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), formerly known as University of Indore, is a premier state university located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Established in 1964 by an Act of Legislature of Madhya Pradesh, the university is named after Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, the benevolent 18th century ruler of Indore and Malwa region.

The university’s jurisdiction initially covered only Indore city but was later extended to seven tribal-dominated districts of Indore division – Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar, Khargone, Khandwa, Burhanpur and Barwani. DAVV serves both the industrially developed Indore district and the tribal backward districts of Madhya Pradesh.
