The Indian Institute of Management Indore has officially released the IPM shortlist 2026 for admission to its prestigious Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). Along with the shortlist, the institute has also published the IPMAT 2026 sectional cutoff marks for different categories. Candidates who appeared for the Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) can now check whether they have qualified for the next stage of the admission process.

The shortlist announcement is an important step for thousands of students who want to secure admission to one of the most popular management programmes in the country after Class 12. Candidates who have cleared the cutoff will now be invited for the Personal Interview (PI) round, which is the second and final stage of the selection process.

According to official information released by IIM Indore, more than 17,000 candidates secured a positive score in IPMAT 2026. However, only candidates meeting the sectional and overall requirements have been shortlisted for further rounds.

What is IIM Indore IPM?

The Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) offered by IIM Indore is a five-year management course designed for students after Class 12. The programme combines undergraduate and postgraduate studies in management. Students who successfully complete the programme receive both undergraduate and MBA-level training from the institute.

The course is highly popular among students aiming for an early start in management education. Admission is conducted through the IPMAT entrance examination followed by a personal interview round.

The sanctioned intake for the IPM 2026 batch is around 150 seats for domestic applicants.

IIM Indore IPM Shortlist 2026 Released

IIM Indore released the provisional shortlist for the Personal Interview round after announcing the IPMAT 2026 result. Candidates can download their scorecards and shortlist status from the official admission portal of the institute.

The shortlist includes candidates who have achieved the required sectional and overall scores in the examination. Students must qualify in all sections separately because IIM Indore follows sectional cutoffs instead of only considering the total score.

Candidates who fail to meet the sectional criteria in any one section are not considered for the interview stage, even if their overall score is high.

IPMAT 2026 Exam Overview

The IPMAT 2026 examination for IIM Indore was conducted on May 4, 2026, in computer-based test mode. The examination duration was two hours and consisted of questions from Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability sections.

The interview panel generally evaluates:

  • Communication skills
  • Academic understanding
  • Confidence
  • General awareness
  • Personality traits
  • Logical thinking
  • Career goals

The interview may be conducted online or offline depending on the institute’s final notification.

Final Selection Process at IIM Indore

IIM Indore prepares the final merit list based on a composite score. The institute gives significant weightage to both IPMAT performance and Personal Interview performance.

Reports suggest that the final selection weightage is approximately:

  • IPMAT Score: 65%
  • Personal Interview: 35%

Unlike some other institutes, IIM Indore generally does not give weightage to Class 10 or Class 12 marks during final admission calculations.

The final merit list is prepared category-wise after combining the scores of both stages.

Important Points for Shortlisted Candidates

Candidates shortlisted for PI should remember the following:

  • Keep all academic documents ready.
  • Ensure category certificates are updated and valid.
  • Check the official website regularly for interview schedules.
  • Maintain active email and mobile communication.
  • Prepare for interview questions related to academics and personal background.

Failure to appear for the interview round may result in cancellation of candidature.

Rising Competition in IPM Admissions

The competition for IPM admissions has increased sharply over the years. Thousands of students from across India appear for the entrance examination every year.

The popularity of the programme is mainly because students get an opportunity to study at an IIM directly after school. The integrated structure also saves students from separately preparing for MBA entrance exams later.

Experts believe that the number of applicants may continue to rise in the coming years because of growing awareness about management careers.

What Happens After Final Selection?

Students who clear both the IPMAT and PI rounds will receive provisional admission offers from IIM Indore.

Selected candidates must then:

  • Accept the admission offer
  • Pay the admission fee
  • Complete document verification
  • Join the academic session as per schedule

The programme begins with foundation courses in economics, mathematics, communication, statistics, and social sciences before moving toward advanced management subjects.

Career Opportunities After IPM

Graduates from IIM Indore’s IPM programme receive strong placement opportunities in consulting, finance, marketing, analytics, and technology sectors.

Students also get access to internships, exchange programmes, industry projects, and leadership training during the course.

Many graduates secure placements in top companies with attractive salary packages, while some also pursue entrepreneurship or higher studies abroad.
