Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University (KSDSU) was established on January 26, 1961, under the Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya Act, 1960 (Bihar Act VI of 1960). The university was established with the generous donation of the ancestral Anand Bagh Palace (Laxmishwar Vilas Palace) by Maharajadhiraj Dr. Sir Kameshwar Singh to the Government of Bihar for the promotion of Sanskrit language in the state.
The university is dedicated to the teaching and promotion of Sanskrit language and its jurisdiction covers the entire state of Bihar for Sanskrit education. It is one of the few specialized Sanskrit universities in India.
