About Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda

Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), Nalgonda was established in 2007 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh (now Telangana) through GOMs No. 19 of the Education Department dated 13th March 2007. Originally known as Nalgonda University, it was renamed to Mahatma Gandhi University in 2008. The university was established with a vision to promote academic excellence and develop human resources capable of adapting to changing times, while expanding higher educational opportunities in rural areas of the region.

The university received recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) with State University status in March 2008. It has been re-accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with B+ Grade and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

The permanent campus of the university is located on the Nalgonda-Narketpally State Highway at Annerparthy, approximately 7 km from Nalgonda town and 90 km from Hyderabad. The campus spreads across 240-250 acres of land and is equipped with modern facilities including a well-stocked library with over 39,000 books and subscriptions to 55 national and international journals.

MGU Nalgonda comprises four main university colleges: College of Arts and Social Sciences, College of Science and Informatics, College of Commerce and Business Management, and College of Engineering and Technology. The university also has colleges for Education and Law.
