UPPSC RO, ARO Mains Exam Schedule 2023 Announced; Revised Dates Released
The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has officially announced the much-awaited Review Officer (RO) and Assistant Review Officer (ARO) Mains Examination Schedule 2023, bringing significant relief to thousands of aspirants preparing for the next stage of the recruitment process.
After the declaration of the preliminary examination results, candidates were eagerly waiting for clarity on the mains exam dates to streamline their preparation strategy. The release of the detailed timetable not only confirms the examination days and shifts but also outlines the paper-wise schedule.

UPPSC RO, ARO Mains Exam Schedule and Revised Schedule
Originally, the UPPSC had slated the RO/ARO Mains Exam 2023 for January 31 and February 1, 2026, with papers in General Studies, Hindi, Essay Writing, and General Vocabulary and Grammar. Under that schedule, the General Studies paper was to be held on January 31 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, followed by the second paper in the afternoon split into descriptive and objective sections. The Hindi Essay paper was scheduled for February 1, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
However, after receiving requests from candidates and considering overlaps with other recruitment tests, UPPSC revised the exam timetable. As per the latest official notification, the RO/ARO Mains 2023 will now be conducted on February 2 and 3, 2026. On February 2, the exam will consist of two shifts:

9:30 am to 11:30 am: General Studies paper

2:00 pm to 4:30 pm: Conventional (descriptive) paper covering General Hindi and Drafting

4:30 pm to 5:00 pm: Objective test focusing on vocabulary and grammar
Details for the second day of the exam (February 3) will be issued soon, but candidates can expect the Hindi essay and writing components to be part of it.
Background and Selection Process
The RO/ARO recruitment drive began with a preliminary examination held on July 27, 2024. The UPPSC declared the results on September 16, 2025, announcing that 7,509 candidates successfully qualified for the mains stage. Of these, 6,093 candidates qualified for Review Officer positions, 1,386 for Assistant Review Officer posts, and 30 for ARO (Accounts).
This recruitment aims to fill a total of 411 vacancies spread across various administrative departments in the state government, offering a unique opportunity for career-oriented aspirants to join Uttar Pradesh’s bureaucratic framework.
