National Scholarship Portal Application Process
Online applications for the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) schemes for the 2026-27 session are open to all eligible students. Most scholarships offered through the National Scholarship Portal and Jammu University provide coverage ranging from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 12,000 per annum. A few research scholarships extend higher monthly fellowships. The Central Government directly disburses scholarship amounts to students’ bank accounts, a practice initiated from the financial year 2016.
For direct disbursement, students’ Aadhar numbers serve as identification. It is mandatory for students to link their bank accounts with their Aadhar numbers, a requirement set by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development. The Central Government scholarships in 2016 had a submission deadline of September 30, 2016, with a statement that this date would not be extended. However, the PM-USP scholarship scheme has seen extensions in timelines for Post-Matric/Top Class Central Sector Schemes on the National Scholarship Portal for the 2025-26 academic year.
