CUET UG 2027: Register by early Feb; exam in May

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to initiate the registration process for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate admissions in the first week of January 2027. This national-level entrance examination, designed to make easier admissions into participating universities across India, is tentatively scheduled to be conducted from the second to fourth week of May 2027.

CUET UG 2027 will govern admissions for the 2027–28 academic session, continuing its role as the sole basis for undergraduate admissions at nearly all central universities since 2022. More than 10 lakh candidates appear for CUET annually, with over 500 universities accepting its scores.

CUET UG 2027 Application and Key Dates

The registration window for CUET UG 2027 is anticipated to open in the first week of January 2027 and remain active until the first week of February 2027. Following the registration period, a correction window for applications is tentatively scheduled for the second week of February 2027. The official notification, along with the detailed information bulletin, is also expected in the first week of January 2027.

Candidates should note that all dates are tentative as the NTA has not yet released the official CUET UG 2027 notification. The application fee for CUET UG is revised almost every year, depending on the number of subjects chosen and the candidate’s category. Based on previous trends, the expected application fees for up to three subjects are outlined below:

Exam Structure, Syllabus, and Eligibility Criteria

The CUET UG 2027 examination will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, featuring Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The exam is divided into three sections: Language (13 Indian languages), Domain Subjects (23 subjects), and a General Aptitude Test (01). Candidates have the option to choose up to a maximum of five subjects, including languages and the General Aptitude Test.

The syllabus for Domain Subjects is based on the Class 12th NCERT curriculum. Each test paper will consist of 50 compulsory questions, with a duration of 60 minutes per paper. The marking scheme awards +5 marks for each correct answer and deducts -1 mark for every incorrect answer. The detailed exam structure will be released in the upcoming information bulletin.

To be eligible for CUET UG 2027, candidates must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) or be appearing for their Class 12 board examinations in 2027. There is no upper age limit to appear for the exam. A minimum of 45% marks in Class 12 is required for General category candidates, while SC/ST/OBC candidates need 40% for basic eligibility.

Admit Card, Results, and Cut-Offs

The CUET UG 2027 admit card is expected to be released in the first week of May 2027, with the city intimation slip anticipated in the last week of April 2027. Following the examination, the provisional answer key is expected in the second week of June 2027, with the final answer key also released in the same week. CUET UG 2027 results are tentatively scheduled for the fourth week of June 2027.

The CUET UG cut-off is determined separately by each participating university and is based on the percentile of the candidate. Universities such as Delhi University do not release specific CUET cut-offs; instead, candidates are allocated colleges and courses based on their preferences and normalized scores. NTA normalizes scores across subjects and shifts for comparability when universities compile merit lists. Key parameters influencing the cut-off include the total number of candidates, available seats, exam difficulty, and overall performance of test-takers.
