NEET PG 2026: PwD Round 1 portal opens October 1. Apply for MD/MS seats

The seat matrix for Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS), and diploma courses for the NEET PG 2026 academic session has been released. This development precedes the opening of the Round 1 counselling portal for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates, which is scheduled for October 1, 2026.

The release of the seat matrix and the upcoming PwD counselling mark significant steps in the admission process for postgraduate medical and dental courses across various states, including Sikkim and Karnataka. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducted the NEET PG 2026 Examination in August 2026, with results and cutoff scores declared from late August to early September 2026.

NEET PG 2026 Counselling for Sikkim

Sikkim NEET PG Counselling 2026 is a centralized process managed by the Directorate of Technical Education under the Government of Sikkim for state quota seats. Admission to MD, MS, and PG Diploma programs in Sikkim follows a combined system, with All India and management quota seats filled through Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) counselling or direct admission by Sikkim Manipal University (SMU).

The primary institution for postgraduate medical studies in Sikkim is the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS), Gangtok, which operates under Sikkim Manipal University and is affiliated with a 500+ bed hospital. A horizontal reservation of 5% is provided to eligible PwD candidates in Sikkim under the State Quota. Candidates must secure scores at or above the qualifying percentile published by NBEMS for NEET PG 2026, which includes a 50th percentile for General/EWS, 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC (including PwD), and 45th percentile for General PwD.

Karnataka NEET PG 2026 Counselling Details

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), Bangalore, is overseeing the Karnataka NEET PG Counselling 2026. This counselling process supports admissions to Postgraduate Medical (MD/MS) and Dental (MDS) degree and diploma courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Medical colleges in Karnataka will fill 50% of their seat share through KEA, with the remaining 50% filled through the All India Quota (AIQ) via MCC.

The online registration and fee payment process for counselling in Karnataka concluded on October 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Eligibility criteria for Karnataka NEET PG Counselling include completing an internship on or before July 31, 2026, for MD/MS courses. Candidates already holding a PG degree in any clinical specialty are not eligible for admission to any PG degree or diploma course in Karnataka. Approximately 66 medical colleges are participating in the Karnataka NEET PG Counselling.
