AILET 2027 legal aptitude integrated into logical reasoning; apply by November 10

The National Law University Delhi has released the AILET 2027 exam details and syllabus updates for admission to its BA LLB and LLM programs. A significant change for the undergraduate program is the integration of Legal Aptitude questions into the Logical Reasoning section, removing it as a standalone component.

The AILET 2027 registration process commenced on August 7, 2026, with the examination slated for December 13, 2026. The exam will be conducted in an offline, pen-and-paper format.

Changes to AILET UG Syllabus and Exam Pattern

For the AILET 2027 UG program, the syllabus has been revised, reducing the number of sections from five to three. The Legal Aptitude and Mathematics sections have been removed as separate components. The new structure includes English, Current Affairs and General Knowledge, and Logical Reasoning.

Legal aptitude-based questions will now be a sub-section within the Logical Reasoning section. National Law University Delhi specifies that these questions do not require technical knowledge of law but rather assess a candidate’s ability to apply given legal principles to a set of facts. The Logical Reasoning section carries the maximum weightage in the AILET UG paper, accounting for almost 50% of the total marks.

The AILET 2027 UG program will feature 150 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark, for a total of 150 marks. The examination duration is 120 minutes. A negative marking scheme will be in effect, with 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer. In case of a tie in UG scores, merit will be determined by higher marks in Logical Reasoning, followed by age, and then a computerized draw of lots.

AILET Ll.M. Program Exam Structure

For the AILET 2027 LL.M. Programme, the entrance test will be entirely Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) based. This marks a change from previous years, where the LL.M. program included a descriptive part. The LL.M. test paper will consist of 100 MCQs, each carrying 1 mark, covering different branches of Law.

The duration of the AILET 2027 LL.M. examination will be 120 minutes. In the event of a tie in LL.M. scores, merit will be decided by senior age, followed by a computerized draw of lots.

The registration process for the AILET 2027 examination commenced on August 7, 2026. Prospective candidates are required to complete their application online through the official portal, nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. The deadline for submitting the AILET 2027 application form is November 10, 2026.
