AICTE Pragati Scholarship: Apply by Oct 31, 2026

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has opened applications for its Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students for the Academic Year 2026-27. This initiative aims to encourage women to pursue technical courses and provide financial assistance for their education at AICTE-approved institutions across India.

The scholarship, which offers INR 50,000 per year, is available to girl students admitted to the first year, or second year through lateral entry, of a technical degree or diploma program. The application window for both fresh and renewal forms closes on October 31, 2026.

Eligibility and Financial Assistance Details

The AICTE Pragati Scholarship is open to girl students whose annual family income from all sources does not exceed INR 8 lakh. A maximum of two girls per family can receive this scholarship. The scheme is merit-based, with eligibility for degree students determined by 12th Class marks and for diploma students by 10th Class marks. There should not be more than a two-year gap after passing the last qualifying examination for eligibility.

The scholarship amount of INR 50,000 per year is disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into the student’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account. These funds can be used for college fees, the purchase of a computer, stationery, books, equipment, and software. However, the scholarship does not cover hostel or medical charges. Students already receiving other Central/State Government/AICTE-sponsored scholarships are not eligible for the Pragati scheme.

The scholarship is applicable for a maximum of four years for first-year admitted degree students and a maximum of three years for diploma students. Lateral entry students can apply for the second year of a degree or diploma course, but not as new applicants for the third year.

Application Process and Key Dates

Applications for the AICTE Pragati Scholarship must be submitted online through the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in). The scheme opened on the NSP on June 1, 2026. The final date for students to submit their applications, including both fresh and renewal forms, is October 31, 2026. Following student submissions, institutions are required to verify the forms by November 15, 2026. The same date, November 15, 2026, is also the last day for checking corrected (defective) forms. District, state, and ministry officers have until November 30, 2026, to complete their verification processes.

Aadhaar card and an Aadhaar-seeded bank account in the candidate’s name are mandatory for submitting the online application. The scholarship will be renewed upon receipt of a renewal application through the NSP, accompanied by a Promotion Certificate certified by the Head of the Institution. Students who fail or drop out in a subsequent year are not eligible for renewal.

Required Documents and Reservations

Applicants are required to upload several documents with their online application. These include Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, an Aadhaar Card, an Income Certificate issued by a State or UT government officer such as a Tehsildar, an Admission Letter, and a Tuition Fee Receipt. Other necessary documents are a Bank Passbook, Caste Certificate (if applicable), and a Parental Declaration Form. For renewal applications, a Promotion Certificate certified by the Head of Institution is required.

The AICTE has allocated a total of 10,000 scholarships, with 5,000 designated for degree-level courses and 5,000 for diploma-level courses. Reservations are in place, with 15% of seats reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, and 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates. The scholarship is not applicable for students admitted to non-technical courses, courses or institutions not approved by AICTE, dual degree courses, postgraduate courses, or those admitted through the management quota.

3. Log in to the portal and complete your profile.
4. Find and select the AICTE Pragati Scholarship for Girl Students.
5. Fill in all required details accurately in the application form.
6. Prepare and upload the necessary documents.
7. Review all information before submitting.
8. Submit the application by October 31, 2026.
