Yes, BCA students in India can access a wide range of BCA scholarships in 2026 – from central and state government schemes on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) to corporate awards and college-level fee waivers. Financial aid is granted on the basis of merit, family income, category (SC/ST/OBC/EBC), gender or minority status, and can cover anything from a fixed annual grant of Rs 10,000 to a near-full tuition waiver of up to Rs 1 lakh. This page lists the most relevant government, private and institutional BCA scholarships, their eligibility, amounts and how to apply.

Scholarships reduce the effective cost of a BCA, which typically runs from about Rs 50,000 to Rs 3.5 lakh across three years depending on the college. For the full picture on costs, read our BCA course guide, and check BCA Admission 2026 for application timelines.

Types of BCA Scholarships in India

BCA scholarships broadly fall into four buckets: central government schemes, state government schemes, private/corporate and NGO awards, and college-level (institutional) scholarships. Most government scholarships are applied for online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), while private and college scholarships are applied for directly on the provider’s or institution’s website.

  • Central government: Central Sector Scheme, AICTE Pragati (for girls), Post-Matric Scholarships for SC/ST/OBC/EBC, and minority scholarships.
  • State government: State post-matric and merit scholarships (for example ePASS Telangana/AP, MahaDBT Maharashtra, Punjab and Karnataka schemes) for domicile students.
  • Private/corporate & NGO: Foundation and company scholarships such as those run by HDFC, LTIMindtree, Buddy4Study partners and similar bodies.
  • College/institutional: Merit fee waivers on Class 12 marks or entrance rank, plus need-based and sports quotas.

Government BCA Scholarships 2026 (with amounts)

The most valuable government scholarships open to BCA students are the Central Sector Scheme, the AICTE Pragati Scholarship for girls, and the category-based Post-Matric Scholarships. The table below summarises the key schemes, eligibility and benefit.

Figures are indicative for 2026 and subject to annual government notification – always confirm the current amount and income ceiling on the official scheme page before applying. Note that AICTE Pragati applies only where the BCA is offered by an AICTE-approved institution, so check your college’s approval status.

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships (CSSS)

The CSSS rewards academic merit with means-testing: you must be in the top 80th percentile of your Class 12 board, from a family earning up to Rs 4.5 lakh a year, and enrolled in a regular (non-distance) degree. Around 82,800 fresh scholarships are sanctioned every year, with 50% reserved for female students, paying Rs 10,000 per annum at UG level.

AICTE Pragati Scholarship for Girls

Pragati is aimed at encouraging women in technical education and pays Rs 50,000 per year, disbursed by Direct Benefit Transfer. The family income ceiling is Rs 8 lakh, and up to two girls per family may apply. Because BCA at many institutions is AICTE-approved, eligible female students should verify their programme’s approval before applying on NSP.

Category and State Scholarships

SC/ST/OBC/EBC and minority students should prioritise the Post-Matric Scholarships, which typically reimburse tuition and pay a monthly maintenance allowance – often the single largest source of support for eligible students. In addition, most states run their own post-matric and merit-cum-means schemes for domicile students through portals such as MahaDBT, ePASS and state welfare departments.

Private, Corporate and NGO BCA Scholarships

Beyond government aid, several private foundations and companies fund BCA and other UG students, usually with awards ranging from about Rs 20,000 to Rs 1,00,000. These are merit-cum-means based and applied for directly with the provider (frequently via aggregators like Buddy4Study).

  • Corporate CSR scholarships from IT and financial firms (for example HDFC’s education programmes and LTIMindtree) supporting promising students from lower-income families.
  • Foundation and NGO awards targeting first-generation learners, girl students and students from underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Women-in-tech grants that specifically encourage female students entering computer applications and IT.

Because a BCA leads into well-paid IT roles, many students weigh scholarship support against long-term returns – see our pages on BCA salary in India and jobs and career scope after BCA to plan the investment.

College-Level BCA Scholarships and Fee Waivers

Most universities and private colleges offering BCA run their own merit scholarships and fee concessions, awarded on Class 12 marks, entrance-exam rank or an internal scholarship test. These can range from a partial tuition discount to a substantial fee waiver for top rankers, plus need-based and sports quotas.

If you sit a national or state entrance test such as CUET, IPU CET or SET, a strong score can unlock both admission and a scholarship at many institutions, so treat the entrance exam as part of your funding strategy. To shortlist colleges that offer scholarships, browse BCA colleges in India and confirm each institution’s current scheme on its official website. First check that you meet the basic BCA eligibility criteria before applying.

How to Apply for BCA Scholarships

For government scholarships, apply online on the National Scholarship Portal during its annual window (usually opens mid-year and closes around the year-end), after completing One-Time Registration (OTR). Keep the core documents ready before you start.

  1. Register/verify on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and complete OTR.
  2. Select the relevant scheme (CSSS, Pragati, Post-Matric, Minority) and fill the form.
  3. Upload documents: Class 12 marksheet, BCA admission/bonafide proof, income certificate, caste/category certificate (if applicable), Aadhaar and a bank passbook linked to Aadhaar.
  4. Submit before the deadline; the institution verifies the application, after which the amount is credited by DBT.

For private and college scholarships, apply directly on the provider’s or college’s portal and watch their individual deadlines, which differ from NSP.
