Most B.Com entrance exams in 2026 are held between April and May, with CUET UG acting as the single largest gateway for admission to the Bachelor of Commerce programme across central and many state and private universities. The other widely accepted tests are Symbiosis SET, NMIMS NPAT and IPU CET. Importantly, a large number of colleges still admit B.Com students purely on Class 12 (10+2) merit, so an entrance exam is not always mandatory.

This page lists the major B.Com entrance exams for the 2026 cycle, their eligibility, exam dates and pattern, and helps you decide which tests to target. For the full programme overview, see our Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) 2026 complete guide.

Do you need an entrance exam for B.Com admission in 2026?

Not always. B.Com admission in India follows two routes: merit-based (direct admission on Class 12 marks) and entrance-based (through a common test such as CUET UG). Central universities, several state universities and top private universities use entrance scores, while a majority of state and affiliated colleges continue to admit on Class 12 percentage.

Which route applies depends entirely on the university you are targeting. Before you register, check the admission notification of each college on your list. You can browse options on our list of B.Com colleges in India and top Commerce colleges in India, and see the step-by-step process in our B.Com Admission 2026 guide.

CUET UG 2026 for B.Com

CUET UG is the primary entrance exam for B.Com and B.Com (Hons) admission across all central universities and a growing number of state and private universities. It is conducted by the NTA once a year in computer-based mode. For the 2026 cycle, applications opened in early January 2026 and the exam was held in the May window.

CUET UG exam pattern

The CUET UG paper is divided into three sections: Section 1 (Languages), Section 2 (Domain Subjects) and Section 3 (General Test). For B.Com, aspirants commonly choose a language plus domain subjects like Accountancy, Economics/Business Economics and Business Studies, or opt for the General Test where universities allow it. Candidates can now pick domain subjects regardless of their Class 12 stream.

Feature Details (2026 cycle)
Sections Languages, Domain Subjects, General Test (choose up to 5 papers in total)
Question type Multiple-choice (MCQ)
Marking +5 correct, −1 wrong, 0 unattempted
Max marks Up to 250 per subject (50 questions × 5 marks)
Recommended B.Com subjects Accountancy, Economics, Business Studies + a language / General Test

Eligibility for CUET UG is a Class 12 pass from a recognised board; individual universities set their own minimum percentage and subject requirements.

Symbiosis SET 2026 for B.Com

The Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is used for admission to undergraduate management and commerce-linked programmes at Symbiosis institutes. It is a computer-based test conducted once a year, but candidates may appear on up to two test dates, with the higher score counted for the percentile. In the 2026 cycle, SET was held on two dates in the May window.

Eligibility: Class 12 pass from a recognised board, typically with around 50% aggregate (45% for SC/ST). The SET test broadly assesses General English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, Analytical and Logical Reasoning. Since exact programme lists change each year, verify whether your chosen Symbiosis commerce or BBA programme requires SET or a linked test on the official SET portal.

NMIMS NPAT 2026 for B.Com

NPAT (NMIMS Programs After Twelfth) is the entrance test for NMIMS undergraduate programmes, including B.Com, B.Com (Minor in Business Analytics), BBA and B.Sc. Finance. It is conducted in computer-based mode over an extended window, and candidates can select a preferred exam date.

Feature Details (2026 cycle)
Duration 100 minutes
Questions 120 MCQs
Sections Quantitative & Numerical Ability, Reasoning & General Intelligence, Verbal Ability (about 40 each)
Negative marking None

Eligibility: Class 12 pass from a recognised board (usually around 50%, varies by programme), with an upper age limit that applied in the 2026 cycle. Confirm the current age and percentage rules on the NMIMS website.

IPU CET 2026 for B.Com

IPU CET is the state-level entrance test of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Delhi, used for several UG programmes including B.Com, BBA and BCA. In the 2026 cycle, IPU CET was conducted in the late-April to May window, with applications opening in February. Note that some GGSIPU programmes now admit through national tests such as CUET, so check the route for your specific course.

Eligibility: Class 12 pass from a recognised board with around 50% aggregate and English as a subject, subject to the age limit specified for the 2026 cycle. Since GGSIPU updates its admission scheme frequently, always read the current admission brochure before applying.

How to choose the right B.Com entrance exam

Pick your entrance exams by working backwards from the colleges you want. If you are aiming at central universities or a wide net of universities, CUET UG is essential; for specific private universities, add SET (Symbiosis) or NPAT (NMIMS); for GGSIPU-affiliated Delhi colleges, prepare for IPU CET. Many students appear for CUET plus one private-university test to keep options open.

Preparation tips for B.Com entrance exams

Strong Class 12 fundamentals in Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies cover most of what CUET UG’s domain sections test, while SET, NPAT and IPU CET reward aptitude in quantitative ability, logical reasoning and English. Begin with the official syllabus and previous-year papers of your target exam, take timed mock tests, and track registration and exam dates on the official portals so you do not miss deadlines.
