JEE Mains 2026 Result LIVE: NTA Session 2 Scorecard Link Soon at jeemain.nta.nic.in; Final Answer Key Released
NTA is expected to release the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 results today following the release of the final answer key where two questions were dropped. Over 11 lakh students are awaiting their All India Ranks to determine their eligibility for the JEE Advanced registration starting April 23.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to announce the results for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 today. With approximately 11.23 lakh students waiting in anticipation, the scorecard link is expected to go live on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, by late evening.
Earlier today, the NTA finalized the evaluation process by releasing the Final Answer Key for the April attempt. Following a rigorous review of challenges submitted by students, the agency has reportedly dropped two questions from the Physics section.
This final key is the definitive document used to calculate the NTA percentiles and determine the All India Ranks (AIR).
Record Participation and Rising Competition
This year’s JEE Main has seen a significant surge in registrations. For the Session 2 (April attempt), about 11.06 lakh candidates registered specifically for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech), with an impressive attendance rate of nearly 93%.
When combined with the January session, the total number of unique candidates is estimated to be between 15 to 16 lakh, making 2026 one of the most competitive years in the history of the entrance exam.

Understanding the Normalization and Tie-Breaking
Since the exam was conducted in multiple shifts from April 2 to April 8, NTA uses a normalization process to ensure fairness. This converts raw marks into percentile scores.
If two students secure the same total percentile, the NTA applies a strict tie-breaking rule:
-
Maths First: The candidate with a higher percentile in Mathematics is ranked higher.
-
Physics & Chemistry: If the tie persists, Physics scores are compared, followed by Chemistry.
-
Accuracy Ratio: If still tied, the student with a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers is given preference.
Expected Category-Wise Cut-offs
Based on early analysis and the difficulty level of the April papers, experts predict a slight increase in the qualifying cut-off for JEE Advanced.
| Category | Expected Percentile (2026) |
| General (UR) | 93.5 – 94.2 |
| OBC-NCL | 79.5 – 81.0 |
| Gen-EWS | 80.5 – 82.0 |
| Scheduled Caste (SC) | 60.5 – 63.0 |
| Scheduled Tribe (ST) | 47.0 – 50.0 |
What’s Next: JEE Advanced & JoSAA Counseling
The top 2,50,000 qualifiers (including all categories) will be eligible to register for JEE Advanced 2026. The registration window for the Advanced exam, which opens the doors to the prestigious IITs, is scheduled to begin on April 23, 2026.
For those not aiming for IITs, the JEE Main rank will be the ticket to the JoSAA/CSAB counseling for seats in 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Students are advised to keep multiple copies of their scorecard, as it is a mandatory document for the physical verification process during admission.
