SSC JE 2026 city slip out; scribe OTR by October 27

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has issued the SSC Junior Engineer (JE) city exam slip 2026 and released instructions for scribe registration. Candidates appearing for the SSC JE 2026 exam can download their city slip and admit card from the official website at ssc.gov.in. The deadline for mapping scribe One-Time Registration (OTR) is October 27, 2026.

The city slip for the Computer Based Test (CBT) 1 was activated on October 17, 2026, while the Tier 2 city intimation slip was released on March 23, 2026. This release supports candidates in planning their travel and accommodation ahead of the examinations, which are scheduled to commence in early November.

SSC Je 2026 Examination Schedule and Admit Card Access

The SSC JE 2026 Paper-I examination is scheduled to be conducted from November 2 to 6, 2026. This examination covers six specific papers, including general engineering in civil and structural, electrical, and mechanical engineering, as well as for IMD scientific assistant (SA) in computer science and information technology, electronics and telecommunication engineering, and physics. The exam for the post of JE (telecommunication) will be held separately from November 30 to December 1, 2026.

Candidates can access their city details by logging into the candidate portal on ssc.gov.in using their credentials. The admit card for the SSC JE 2026 exam will be made available for download 2-3 days before the candidate’s respective examination date. For JE (telecommunication) posts, the city slip and admit card will be issued 8-10 days in advance of the examination.

Scribe Registration and Aadhaar Authentication

Candidates who intend to avail the ‘Own Scribe’ facility for the SSC JE 2026 examination are required to complete a fresh scribe registration on the commission’s website. The SSC has integrated Aadhaar authentication into this scribe registration process. This measure aims to speed up and secure the registration of scribes for eligible candidates.

The deadline for candidates who have opted for an ‘own scribe’ to map their scribe OTR is October 27, 2026. A scribe entry pass will only be generated for those candidates who successfully complete this mapping process by the stipulated deadline. Scribe registrations made before November 5, 2025, were disposed of, necessitating fresh registration for the current cycle.

Subject Change Option for Scientific Assistant Paper

Candidates who opted for the Scientific Assistant (SA) paper have the option to choose EC/TC as their default subject. However, those wishing to change their subject to Computer Science/Information Technology (CS/IT) or Physics are permitted to do so. This subject change window will remain open until October 27, 2026, at 11 pm, coinciding with the exam city slip availability period.

This provision allows candidates to adjust their subject choice if needed, ensuring they appear for the examination in their preferred or most relevant discipline. Candidates are advised to make any necessary changes within the specified timeframe to avoid complications during the examination.

Related Examination Updates: RRB Je and Other SSC Exams

In addition to the SSC JE 2026 updates, the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) activated the RRB JE CBT 1 Exam City Intimation Slip 2026 link on October 17, 2026, for CEN 04/2026. The RRB JE CBT 1 examination is scheduled for October 27 and 28, 2026. The e-call letter (admit card) for RRB JE CBT 1 will be available four days before each candidate’s examination date.

Also, the SSC Combined Hindi Translator Tier-I Examination 2026 was scheduled for September 8, 2026, with a scribe OTR mapping deadline of September 6, 2026. The Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ Tier-I Examination 2026 was scheduled from September 9 to 12, 2026, with its scribe OTR mapping deadline on September 7, 2026. The admit cards for these examinations were released approximately 2-3 days before their respective exam dates.
