UPESSC PRT recruitment 2026 application deadline extended: apply by 4 November

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has extended the application deadline for Assistant Teacher (Associated Primary) posts under Advertisement No. 05/2026. Candidates can now submit their applications until November 4, 2026, a revision from the earlier deadline of October 28, 2026.

This extension affects candidates applying for 12,405 vacancies in the Secondary Education Department across Uttar Pradesh. The decision to extend the deadline and revise eligibility criteria was made following directives from the Allahabad High Court and the Secondary Education Department.

Reasons for the Extension and Eligibility Revisions

The application deadline was extended based on an Allahabad High Court order issued on October 24, 2026, and a subsequent letter from the Secondary Education Department dated October 27, 2026. The UPESSC’s notice regarding this extension was dated October 28, 2026.

The revised notification also introduces two additional eligible qualifications for primary teacher posts. These include a two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India, and a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) degree, expanding the pool of eligible candidates.

Key Dates and Application Process

Despite the extension of the application deadline, the written examination dates for the Assistant Teacher (Associated Primary) posts remain unchanged. The examination is scheduled for December 3 and 4, 2026. The online application process commenced on September 16, 2026.

Candidates who have already applied or intend to apply should note the revised dates for application submission and the correction window. Application Fees and Age Limits

The application fees vary by category. General, OBC, and EWS categories are required to pay INR 1000, while Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates have an application fee of INR 500. Physically Handicapped (PH) or Divyangjan candidates are required to pay INR 300.

Regarding age criteria, the minimum age for all applicants is 21 years as of July 1, 2026. The maximum age for Assistant Teacher (Primary – Urban) is 40 years, and for Assistant Teacher (Attached Primary) is 62 years, both as of July 1, 2026.
