Galgotias University Hosts Mega UP Youth Basketball Championship 2026; Over 800 Athletes Participate

Galgotias University successfully organized the 24th Youth Uttar Pradesh Basketball Championship 2026 at its campus. Held from July 22 to July 28, the high-octane seven-day sporting extravaganza brought together nearly 800 young athletes from across Uttar Pradesh. Organised in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Basketball Association (UPBA), the state-level tournament served as a premier platform for emerging basketball talent.

The championship saw enthusiastic participation from a total of 56 teams, divided into 33 boys’ teams and 23 girls’ teams. Over seven action-packed days, players showcased high levels of athleticism, strategy, and sportsmanship on the court. The event provided young players with crucial competitive exposure, helping coaches and talent scouts evaluate emerging basketball talent from various districts.

The closing ceremony was graced by prominent figures from the sports community. Mr. Dileep Singh, Honorary General Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Basketball Association, attended as the Chief Guest, while Mr. R. S. Bedi, Vice-President of UPBA, served as the Guest of Honour.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Bedi praised Galgotias University for providing top-tier, well-maintained sporting infrastructure and a seamlessly organized competitive environment. He emphasized that tournaments of this magnitude offer young athletes sustained match exposure, helping them refine their skills and prepare for national and international stages.
