NEET PG 2026 answer key awaited by aspirants, results by September 30

NEET PG 2026 aspirants across India are currently awaiting the release of the official answer key, more than two weeks after the main examination was conducted on August 30, 2026. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has not yet announced a confirmed release date for the key, while the results for the postgraduate medical entrance examination are scheduled to be declared by September 30, 2026.

The answer key is crucial for candidates to estimate their scores before the official results and subsequent counselling processes begin for admission to postgraduate medical programmes. A total of 2,65,980 candidates appeared for the NEET PG 2026 examination, with 2,63,535 completing it.

NEET PG 2026 Examination Details and Re-Examination

The NEET PG 2026 examination was held on August 30, 2026, in a single shift from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, lasting 3 hours and 30 minutes. The exam consisted of 180 multiple-choice questions, carrying a total of 720 marks. The marking scheme awards +4 marks for a correct answer, deducts -1 mark for an incorrect answer, and assigns 0 marks for unattempted questions.

A re-examination was conducted on September 5, 2026, for 2,445 candidates who were affected by technical issues at the iON Digital Zone Sitapura centres in Jaipur during the main examination.

First-Time Official Answer Key Release

For the first time, NBEMS will publish an official answer key for NEET PG 2026. This decision comes in compliance with a Supreme Court directive. As of September 9, 2026, NBEMS had not announced a confirmed date for the answer key’s release.

Timeline for NEET PG 2026 Results and Counselling

Despite the awaited answer key, the NBEMS timeline indicates that the NEET PG 2026 result is scheduled to be declared by September 30, 2026. Candidates typically use the provisional answer key and their response sheets to calculate estimated scores, which helps in preparing for the counselling process.

Steps for Candidates to Access Answer Key and Response Sheet

Once released, candidates will need to visit the official NBEMS website, natboard.edu.in, and navigate to the NEET PG 2026 section to check for the answer key and response sheet link. They must use their login credentials, such as application number and password, to access these documents.

Candidates are advised to download and save their response sheet for future reference. If an objection window is opened, candidates will need to log in to the NBEMS candidate portal, select the specific Question ID they wish to challenge, upload supporting evidence from standard reference textbooks, and pay the prescribed per-question objection fee.
