BPSC Project Manager exam postponed: new date awaited for 9 posts

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced the postponement of the Project Manager recruitment examination, Advertisement No. 109/2025, which was originally slated for October 4, 2026. The decision to defer the exam has been attributed to administrative reasons, according to the commission.

As of September 21, 2026, BPSC has not yet released a new date for the preliminary competitive examination. This postponement affects candidates who applied for the 9 Project Manager positions in the Industries Department of the Bihar government.

Details of the Project Manager Recruitment

The recruitment drive, Advertisement No. 109/2025, seeks to fill a total of 9 Project Manager posts. The online application process commenced on January 8, 2026, with the final date for online application submission and fee payment being January 29, 2026. The application fee for all candidates was Rs. 100, plus bank charges. An additional biometric fee of Rs. 200 was required for candidates who did not provide their Aadhaar number as identity proof.

The age criteria for applicants stipulated a minimum age of 21 years as of August 1, 2025. The maximum age for male candidates was 37 years, while for female UR, BC/EBC (male & female) candidates, it was 40 years. SC/ST (male & female) candidates had a maximum age limit of 42 years, also as of August 1, 2025. The selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level 9, with a pay scale ranging from ₹53,100 to ₹1,67,800.

Examination Structure and Selection Process

The selection process for the Project Manager posts involves a Preliminary Exam, a Written Exam, and an Interview. The Preliminary Exam is an objective-type paper consisting of 150 questions, carrying a total of 150 marks. Candidates are allotted 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete this stage.

The Preliminary Exam syllabus is divided into three sections: Indian Economy & Industry (70 questions), Current Affairs (40 questions), and Mental Ability Test (40 questions). Notably, there is no negative marking in the Preliminary Exam. The initial preliminary competitive examination was first scheduled for May 30, 2026, before being revised to October 4, 2026, and then postponed again.

Previous Postponements and What’s Next

This is not the first time the BPSC Project Manager exam has faced postponement. The examination was initially scheduled for May 30, 2026, but was postponed around May 12, 2026, due to technical and administrative reasons. A notice issued on August 17, 2026, had announced the October 4, 2026, date, which has now also been deferred.

In a related development, the BPSC 72nd Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) Preliminary Exam 2026, which was scheduled for July 26, 2026, has also been postponed.
