NEET PG 2026 Examination and Qualifying Scores
The NEET PG 2026 examination, conducted by NBEMS, comprised 200 questions for a total of 720 marks, with a duration of 3.5 hours. A negative marking scheme of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer was applied. The minimum qualifying scores for different categories were declared by NBEMS.
For the General/EWS category, the minimum qualifying score was 262 out of 720, corresponding to the 50th percentile. Candidates in the SC/ST/OBC categories required a minimum score of 226, which is the 40th percentile. For the General PwBD category, the minimum qualifying score was 244, representing the 45th percentile.

National and State-Level Counselling Processes
Counselling for 50% All India Quota (AIQ), deemed, central, ESIC, and AFMS seats is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The remaining 50% state quota seats are allotted by respective state authorities through their own portals. The MCC’s AIQ counselling typically involves four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and a Stray Vacancy Round.
Rules for joining and security deposits vary across counselling rounds. In Round 1, a free exit is available, and no security deposit is forfeited for not joining. However, from Round 2 onwards, not joining an allotted seat results in the forfeiture of the security deposit. The MCC counselling schedule for NEET PG 2026 has not yet been announced.

While the NEET PG counselling schedule is awaited, various state counselling processes for NEET UG 2026 have recently concluded or are underway. The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh, released the UP NEET UG Round 2 merit list 2026 on September 21, 2026, with choice filling open until September 24, 2026, and reporting from September 26 to October 1, 2026.
The Maharashtra State CET Cell published the Revised Final Merit List for MBBS/BDS (Group A) courses under NEET-UG 2026 on September 10, 2026, listing 35,349 candidates. Also, the Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Educational Courses (ACPUGMEC) in Gujarat published the Gujarat NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 2 Merit list, with choice filling open until September 11, 2026.
