The Bank of India (BOI) officially released a recruitment notification on 1 June 2026, inviting applications for 779 Credit Officer posts within the General Banking Officer (GBO) stream across MMGS II, MMGS III, and SMGS IV scales. Applicants must clear a 2-hour online exam pf 125 marks to qualify.

The online application window for the Bank of India Credit Officer recruitment (Project Number 2026-27/01) commenced on 30 June 2026. Bank of India Credit Officer 2026: Vacancy Details and Scales

A total of 779 Credit Officer vacancies have been announced by the Bank of India. These positions are specifically for the General Banking Officer (GBO) stream and are distributed across various management scales: MMGS II, MMGS III, and SMGS IV. Notably, the total vacancies include 475 unfilled positions that were carried forward from the previous Project 2025-26/01, reflecting a significant opportunity for experienced professionals.

Bank of India Credit Officer 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfil the prescribed eligibility conditions as on June 1, 2026, to apply for the Credit Officer posts.

  • Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen or fulfil the nationality conditions prescribed by the Government of India (including eligible Nepal/Bhutan subjects, Tibetan refugees, and Persons of Indian Origin from specified countries).
  • Educational Qualification: Graduation in any discipline with 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD) or a professional qualification such as CA, CMA (ICWA), CS, or CFA.
  • Work Experience: Relevant post-qualification officer experience is mandatory; freshers are not eligible.
  • MMGS-II Experience: Minimum 3 years as an officer, including 2 years in credit-related roles.
  • MMGS-III Experience: Minimum 5 years as an officer, including 3 years in credit-related roles.
  • SMGS-IV Experience: Minimum 7 years as an officer, including 4 years in credit-related roles.
  • Age Limit (MMGS-II): 25โ€“32 years as on June 1, 2026.
  • Age Limit (MMGS-III): 28โ€“38 years as on June 1, 2026.
  • Age Limit (SMGS-IV): 32โ€“45 years as on June 1, 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: Applicable as per Government normsโ€”SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), PwBD (10 years), Ex-Servicemen (5 years), and Persons affected by the 1984 riots (5 years).

Bank of India Credit Officer 2026: Selection Process

According to the official notification, the English Language section is of a qualifying nature. As stated in the guidelines, “The test of English Language will be of qualifying nature i.e. Marks obtained in English Language will not be added while preparing merit List.” There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. Candidates must achieve minimum qualifying marks in each test: 35% for General/EWS categories, with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates.

Candidates applying for the Credit Officer posts are required to pay a non-refundable application fee by 20 July 2026;
