- Revised admit cards for the November 21 exam will be issued on October 24, 2026, and can be downloaded from stetregistration.cbrt.co.in.

- The Bihar STET 2026 exam carries 150 marks, with 100 for subject matter and 50 for teaching arts.
The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) announced today, October 22, 2026, the postponement of its Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET 2026) exam originally slated for November 4, 2026. This decision affects candidates across Bihar who were preparing for the examination.

The postponement comes as a direct result of a scheduling conflict with recruitment examination dates for the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) in 2026. The affected November 4 exam will now be conducted on November 21, 2026, as part of the broader STET 2026 schedule running from October 25 to November 21, 2026.
Revised Schedule and Admit Card Information
While the November 4 exam has been rescheduled, the BSEB confirmed that all other STET 2026 exams will proceed according to their pre-scheduled program. Candidates affected by this change must obtain a new admit card for the November 21 examination. The revised STET admit cards for the November 21 exam will be issued on October 24, 2026.
Applicants can download their updated admit cards from the official portal, stetregistration.cbrt.co.in. This ensures that candidates have the correct documentation for the rescheduled test date.
STET Exam Structure and Qualifying Criteria
The BSEB conducts the STET to certify eligible candidates for secondary school teachers (Classes 9-10) and higher secondary school teachers (Classes 11-12) in government schools across Bihar. The STET paper is divided into two sections and carries a total of 150 marks. One hundred marks are allotted to specific subject matter, while 50 marks are allotted to teaching arts and other competencies. Previous Instances of Exam Disruptions and Policy Changes
This is not the first instance of disruptions affecting teacher eligibility tests in Bihar. The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026, for example, was postponed at two centers in Bihar’s Vaishali district on February 7, 2026, due to commotion. The affected centers were St. John’s Academy, Baramati Nagar, and Lakshya International Academy. The CBSE stated that CTET Paper 2 was successfully conducted at 1801 out of 1803 centers nationwide on that date, with re-exams for affected candidates scheduled within 15 days. CTET results for 2026 are expected in the last week of March 2026 or early April 2026, and the validity of the CTET certificate has been extended to a lifetime.
Historically, the Bihar STET exam has also seen cancellations. The Bihar STET Exam 2022 was cancelled with immediate effect on June 13, 2022. The Bihar government decided not to conduct the STET exam in 2022, deeming the CTET sufficient. This decision was taken at a high-level review meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary (education) Deepak Kumar Singh and communicated to the Bihar School Examination Committee by Bihar Primary Education Director, Ravi Prakash. Director Ravi Prakash stated, "As per the provisions laid down under the Bihar Elementary School Service (appointment, promotion, transfer, disciplinary proceeding and service condition) Rules. 2020, qualifying TET conducted either by the Centre or state is required for teachers’ recruitment. The Centre holds it twice a year. in July and December. As such, the need for another similar test at the state level is not being felt. If such a need arises in future, the department will take a decision." Education minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary added, "CTET is also conducted by the state apparatus and the students from Bihar only take the exam. We have no issues with its authenticity and the number of candidates clearing it are more than our requirement. So, organising another parallel test of the same nature and category is not justified. In future, if the need emerges, it can be held, but at present there is no need for duplication of efforts." Although Bihar STET was supposed to be conducted once a year, it had only been held twice since 2011, with the last time being in 2017, prior to the 2022 cancellation.
