COMEDK UGET 2027: Apply with new subjects, no age limit
In short
- For engineering courses from 2026, candidates can now opt for Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or Electronics instead of Chemistry as an optional subject in Class 12.
- The minimum age requirement for COMEDK UGET 2026 is 17 years by December 31, 2026, but for COMEDK UGET 2027, there will be no minimum or maximum age restriction.
- General Merit candidates for B.E./B.Tech must secure a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, while SC, ST, and OBC candidates of Karnataka need 40%.
- For Architecture courses, candidates must have passed Class 12 or a 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics and possess a valid NATA or JEE Main score for COMEDK UGET 2027.
- The COMEDK UGET application form for 2026 is expected to open by February 2026, with candidates required to be Indian citizens for the 2026 examination.
The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) has released the eligibility criteria for its Undergraduate Entrance Test (UGET) for the academic year 2026-2027. These criteria are crucial for students seeking admission to engineering and architecture courses in member institutions across Karnataka, India, and aim to ensure candidates meet foundational requirements for undergraduate programs.

A significant change for engineering courses from 2026 allows candidates to substitute Chemistry with Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or Electronics as an optional subject in Class 12. In addition, the age limit for the COMEDK UGET will see a notable adjustment for the 2027 examination cycle.
Changes in Engineering Eligibility Criteria
For the B.E./B.Tech programs, the qualifying examination remains the second PUC or 10+2 Higher Secondary or an equivalent recognized by the State/Central Government. The last two years of study must include Physics, Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects, with the option of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or Electronics.
General Merit candidates are required to have a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. For SC, ST, and OBC candidates of Karnataka State, this requirement is relaxed to a minimum aggregate of 40% marks in the same subjects. Candidates must have passed Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects individually. Diploma candidates are not eligible for the engineering entrance test as there are no lateral entry admissions through COMEDK.
An attempt in the COMEDK Entrance Test for Engineering courses is considered sufficient for inclusion in the rank list. The COMEDK UGET application form for 2026 is anticipated to commence by February 2026.
| Category | Minimum Aggregate Marks in PCM |
|---|---|
| General Merit | 45% |
| SC, ST, and OBC candidates of Karnataka State | 40% |
Eligibility for Architecture Courses
For admission to Architecture courses through COMEDK, candidates must have passed the qualifying examination (PUC or 10+2) with Mathematics as one of the mandatory subjects. Alternatively, a candidate who has passed a 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics as a compulsory subject, securing an aggregate of 50% (45% for SC, ST, and OBC candidates of Karnataka), is also eligible.
Candidates for Architecture courses must have cleared the 10+2 scheme of examination with 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates). Also, they must have cleared the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) with minimum cutoff marks in two individual components and qualifying marks in aggregate. Notably, no separate entrance test has to be taken by candidates seeking admission to B.Arch courses through COMEDK.
Age Limit and Nationality Requirements
For the COMEDK UGET 2026, candidates must be Indian citizens and must have completed 17 years of age on or before December 31, 2026. There is no specific upper age limit prescribed by COMEDK for 2026. However, a significant change is slated for COMEDK UGET 2027, where there will be no minimum and maximum age restriction.
For COMEDK UGET 2027, the nationality criteria will also be expanded to include Indian Citizens, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO). Any changes in eligibility criteria mandated by AICTE or VTU will be adopted by COMEDK.
| Particular | Eligibility Criteria |
|---|---|
| Academic Qualification | Qualified 10 + 2 with 45% aggregate marks or any other equivalent examination with PCM and English. * 5% relaxation is available for reserved category candidates belonging to the Karnataka state. |
| Age Limit | No minimum and maximum age restriction. |
| Nationality | Must be an Indian Citizen / Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) / Person of Indian origin (PIO). |
Reservation Policy and Next Steps
COMEDK promotes equal opportunities by offering category-based relaxations and a lack of domicile restrictions for general merit seats. For candidates seeking Karnataka-specific reservations, a valid Karnataka domicile certificate is mandatory. Candidates claiming seats under the Kalyana Karnataka Region (KKR/HK) quota must provide both a KKR/HK certificate and a Karnataka domicile certificate during counselling.
Aspirants are advised to meticulously check the COMEDK eligibility criteria before filling out the application form, which can only be completed through the COMEDK UGET login 2026. This is make-or-break to apply prior the last date by completing all required steps. Students must also submit their original Class 12th or equivalent examination certificate at the time of counselling to verify their eligibility.
| Region | Eligibility to Get Reservation |
|---|---|
| KKR / HK Region | Must be a KKR / HK region candidate. Must have Kalyana Karnataka (KKR / HK Region) certificate and Karnataka Domicile Certificate. |
