Delhi University Financial Support Scheme 2026-27: apply by October 13 for fee waiver

The University of Delhi (DU) has commenced the application process for its Financial Support Scheme (FSS) 2026-27, aimed at providing financial assistance and reducing the fee burden for eligible students. Applications for the scheme, announced by the Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW), opened on or before September 24, 2026.

This initiative is designed to support full-time bonafide students enrolled in undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate (PG) programmes at a Department, Institute, or Centre of the University of Delhi. The scheme offers fee waivers based on specified annual family income categories, with the online application window closing on October 13, 2026.

Eligibility and Fee Waiver Details

The DU Financial Support Scheme 2026-27 links financial assistance directly to a student’s annual family income. Students with an annual family income ranging from INR 0 to INR 4 lakh are eligible for a 100% fee waiver, capped at a maximum of ₹15,000. For those with an annual family income above INR 4 lakh up to INR 8 lakh, a 50% fee waiver is available, with a maximum benefit of ₹10,000.

However, certain student categories are excluded from the scheme. Students enrolled in Colleges, BTech programmes (excluding CIC), the Five-Year Integrated Law Programme, the School of Open Learning (SOL), and NCWEB are not eligible. Additionally, students with an Essential Repeat (ER) in any previous examination are also excluded from the benefits. The scheme does not cover examination and hostel fees, and all eligible candidates will receive equal benefits, with no additional provisions for students with disabilities.

Application Process and Required Documents

Eligible students must submit their applications online through the official Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW) website at dsw.du.ac.in/financial-support-scheme. The deadline for online submission is October 13, 2026. The schedule for submitting hard or printed copies of the application form and supporting documents at the DSW office will be announced separately by the university.

Applicants are required to provide several self-attested documents. These include an EWS/OBC-NCL certificate or an annual family income certificate for the financial year 2025-26, issued by a competent authority; income certificates signed by a notary officer will not be accepted. Other necessary documents include self-attested copies of the latest Income Tax Returns (2025-26), if filed, for the father, mother, unmarried sister(s), and unmarried brother(s) below 25 years of age, along with self-attested copies of their PAN cards. A self-attested copy of the Undertaking Form, available on the DSW website, is also mandatory, as is a copy of the Bonafide Certificate duly signed by the Head/Director of the concerned Centre or Institute. Further requirements include a self-attested copy of the marksheet of the last examination, the latest fee receipt, and a bank passbook showing the student’s name, account number, and IFSC code.
