The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) initiated the registration process for the Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI CET) January 2027 session on September 16, 2026. This examination supports admission to postgraduate programmes including MD, MS, six-year DM and MCh programmes, as well as MDS and MD in Hospital Administration.

INI CET January 2027 Application Process and Key Dates

The application window for INI CET January 2027 is open until October 13, 2026. Following registration, candidates will be able to check the status of their applications between October 17 and 19, 2026. The final status of online registration and the uploading of admit cards on the AIIMS website is scheduled for October 26, 2026.

The examination will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode on November 1, 2026. The results for the INI CET January 2027 session are expected on November 7, 2026.

Examination Pattern and Structure

The INI CET January 2027 examination will be a computer-based test with a duration of three hours. It will comprise a total of 200 objective-type questions. The counselling process following the examination will cover postgraduate seats across several Institutes of National Importance.

Eligibility Criteria for Postgraduate Programmes

Candidates applying for INI CET January 2027 must possess an MBBS degree from a medical college recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Also, applicants are required to have completed a one-year compulsory rotatory internship and hold the necessary certificate.

Minimum MBBS marks for eligibility vary by category. General, OBC, and EWS categories require a minimum of 55% in MBBS, while SC and ST categories require a minimum of 50%.

Available Seats and Participating Institutions

Admission will be granted to approximately 872 postgraduate seats, encompassing Masters of Surgery (MS), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctorate of Medicine (DM), Masters of Chirurgie (MCh), and Masters of Dental Surgery (MDS) courses. These admissions are for various Institutes of National Importance, including all AIIMS institutes, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, PGIMER Chandigarh, and SCTIMST Thiruvananthapuram.
