KEA PG-MDS 2026 round 3 provisional seat allotment released, 141 seats vacant

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) today, October 28, 2026, released the provisional seat allotment for the third round of PG-MDS 2026. This provisional list, available on the KEA website, aims to fill vacant and cancelled seats for the postgraduate dental courses.

A total of 141 seats are currently listed as vacant or cancelled across various dental colleges in Karnataka. The counselling process for Karnataka NEET PG 2026 includes several stages such as registration, document verification, option entry, seat allotment, and reporting to the allotted institute.

Overview of PG-MDS 2026 Counselling Schedule

The NEET PG 2026 examination was conducted on August 30, 2026, with results released on September 24, 2026. Registration for Round 1 of NEET PG Counselling 2026 commenced on October 5, 2026, and concluded on October 15, 2026. Choice filling for Round 1 was open from October 13 to October 22, 2026, until 10:00 AM.

The provisional results for UGNEET-2026 Third Round seat allotment for Medical and Dental courses were previously published on October 3, 2026. The KEA, established in 1994 as the Common Entrance Examination Unit and later converted into an autonomous body, allocates Medical, Dental, and AYUSH course seats based on NEET scores and the seat matrix provided by the Karnataka Government.

Vacant and Cancelled SEATS in Round 3

The provisional seat allotment for PG-MDS 2026 Round 3 includes 141 vacant and cancelled seats as of October 28, 2026. These seats are distributed across various dental colleges in Karnataka, covering a range of MDS specialisations and categories. Course fees for these seats vary significantly depending on the college, course, and category.

For instance, an MDS in Oral Pathology at Bapuji Dental College and Hospital, Davangere, under the General Merit (GM) category has a course fee of ₹115,000, while an MDS in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics under the Management (MNG) category at Dayananda Sagar College of Dental Sciences, Bangalore, is listed at ₹2,015,000.

Instructions for Allotted Candidates

Candidates who have been allotted seats through both the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and KEA counselling and prefer to take admission to the MCC seat may exit from the KEA seat allotment by selecting Choice-4 without penalty. This option is available through the KEA website on or before October 5, 2026, 12:00 Noon.

Those who have already reported to a college for a KEA first or second round seat and wish to take an MCC third round seat may cancel the KEA allotted seat by paying a penalty of ₹10,000. This cancellation must also be completed on or before October 5, 2026, 12:00 Noon. Similarly, candidates not interested in the KEA third round allotted seat or planning to take admission in other states may cancel the KEA allotted seat by paying a penalty of ₹10,000 by the same deadline.

Candidates who exit KEA counselling under these conditions will not be eligible to participate in subsequent KEA rounds. Conversely, candidates who have joined an MCC 1st or 2nd round college, or were allotted a seat in MCC 3rd round, and also received a KEA 3rd round seat but wish to retain the KEA seat, must send an email to keauthority-ka@nic.in with the subject ‘Confirmation of My KEA Seat’ by October 5, 2026, 12:00 Noon. The email should include their CET No, Name, and Rank.

Penalties for Seat Surrender and Future Eligibility

After the publication of the third-round final results, the option for Choice-4 or cancellation will no longer be available. Candidates wishing to surrender a seat after the publication of third-round final results but before the last date for stray vacancy round options will incur a penalty of ₹110,000 for medical seats and ₹60,000 for dental seats.

Surrendering a seat after the last date for stray vacancy round options will result in ineligibility to participate in counselling for the next three years. The KEA will re-run the third-round seat allotment for Medical and Dental courses based on existing options to use cancelled seats.

NEET PG 2026 Cutoff and Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Karnataka NEET PG Counselling 2026, candidates must have appeared in NEET PG 2026 and secured at least the minimum qualifying percentile. The cutoff percentiles and marks for NEET PG 2026 are as follows:

Eligibility criteria for the counselling include an MBBS degree from an NMC/MCI recognized institution and a Permanent or Provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification. Karnataka domicile candidates require an MBBS degree from a college in Karnataka affiliated with RGUHS, while non-Karnataka candidates are eligible for management quota seats in private/deemed medical colleges in Karnataka.
