MHT CET 2027 exam centre allotment may link to class 12 college PIN codes

The CET Cell has put forward a proposal to discontinue the option for candidates to choose their preferred districts for MHT CET 2027 examination centres. Instead, the allotment of centres is proposed to be linked to the PIN codes of the candidates’ Class 12 colleges across Maharashtra. This move is intended to enhance transparency and mitigate potential malpractices within the examination process.

A new standard operating process (SOP) is currently being prepared by the CET Cell, which will outline these changes. This SOP is expected to be submitted to the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Maharashtra, within the next week for review and subsequent submission to the Higher and Technical Education Department for final approval.

Proposed Changes to Exam Centre Allotment

Under the new proposal, candidates for the MHT CET 2027 examination may no longer be allowed to submit their district choices for exam centres. The primary basis for centre allotment would shift to the PIN code associated with their Class 12 college. This change is being considered to address concerns regarding examination supervision and to reduce the need for students to travel long distances unnecessarily.

Currently, candidates are permitted to select their district preferences for MHT CET exam centres. However, the CET Cell has noted concerns over candidates from urban centres like Pune and Mumbai opting for distant districts such as Chandrapur, Nandurbar, and Gadchiroli, where examination supervision is suspected to be less stringent. Maharashtra comprises 36 districts, with Mumbai serving as the capital and Nagpur as the winter capital.

Considerations for Special Cases

While the general rule aims to link exam centres to Class 12 college PIN codes, the proposal includes provisions for candidates with genuine reasons for seeking an examination centre outside their college district. Such cases may be considered for alternative arrangements. For instance, a different centre might be allotted corresponding to the address PIN code on the candidate’s Aadhaar card.

Also, students facing medical emergencies could also be considered for an alternative examination centre arrangement. These exceptions aim to provide flexibility while maintaining the overall integrity and transparency of the MHT CET 2027 examination process.

Recent Notices from Maharashtra State CET Cell

The Maharashtra State CET Cell has issued several notices concerning admissions and administrative processes for the academic years 2026-27 and 2027-28. On October 6, 2026, Notice No. 1 was released for PGP-CET/PGO-CET/M.Sc.(SLP)/M.Sc.(Audio)-CET & M.Sc.(P&O) CET-2026. In addition, on October 2, 2026, Notice No. 2 invited applications from subject matter experts for question paper setting, item writing, and review for MAH-CET A.Y. 2027-28 for all courses under Higher Education.

Further notices from the CET Cell include a quotation calling letter for a water cooler and LAN Networking work, both dated September 21, 2026. On September 12, 2026, a circular (Notice No. 5) was issued regarding the revised final date for admissions to B.Arch and M.Arch professional courses for the academic year 2026-27. The CET Cell also published a public notice on September 11, 2026, inviting applications for one Assistant Law Officer and one Officer on Special Duty on a contractual basis for its office.
