MHT CET 2027 notification expected soon; first attempt in December-January

The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra (MAH CET Cell), is preparing to release the MHT CET 2027 notification, application process, and exam schedule on its official website, cetcell.mahacet.org. This announcement, expected soon, will detail registration procedures, examination dates, eligibility criteria, syllabus, exam pattern, application fees, and other crucial instructions for aspiring candidates.

This marks a significant shift in the examination calendar, as the MHT CET 2027 first attempt is tentatively scheduled between December 15, 2026, and January 15, 2027. This is approximately four months earlier than the traditional April–May window, a change proposed to align Maharashtra’s entrance exam calendar with national-level examinations, specifically JEE Main, which is held in the third week of January.

Revised MHT CET 2027 Schedule and Application Process

The State CET Cell is expected to release the MHT CET 2027 notification and information brochure soon, with the application process likely to begin in October 2026. All official communication regarding the MHT CET 2027 exam will be published online at cetcell.mahacet.org. The information brochure will provide complete details on eligibility criteria, important dates, syllabus, and exam pattern.

For MHT CET 2027, the examination will be held in a bi-annual format, similar to MHT CET 2026. The first attempt is scheduled for December 15, 2026, to January 15, 2027, followed by a second attempt in April 2027. Registration for both PCM and PCB groups for Sessions 1 and 2 is expected to open simultaneously, allowing candidates to register for either one or both sessions. The better score from the two attempts will be considered for admissions.

Alignment with National Examinations and Exam Pattern

The decision to advance the MHT CET 2027 first attempt to December-January is aimed at aligning the state’s entrance exam calendar with national-level examinations, particularly JEE Main. According to CET Commissioner Dileep Sardesai, this alignment will allow students to obtain a state-level benchmark score before appearing for JEE Main, potentially reducing pressure and enhancing confidence. This shift also aligns with the national technical education framework, offering benefits such as reduced pressure from a single attempt.

The MHT CET 2027 will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of objective-type (Multiple Choice Questions). Candidates can opt for PCM, PCB, or both groups. The exam duration will be 180 minutes, with no negative marking. The syllabus weightage will be 20% from Class 11 topics and 80% from Class 12 topics, based on the Maharashtra State Board Class 11 & 12 syllabus. Approximately 80–85% of MHT CET questions are directly based on Maharashtra State HSC Board textbooks.

MHT CET 2027 Exam Structure and Syllabus

The MHT CET 2027 examination will comprise two papers: PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) and PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology). Candidates can appear for either one or both papers. For the PCM group, there will be 150 questions totaling 200 marks, while the PCB group will have 200 questions for 200 marks. Physics and Chemistry sections will carry 1 mark per correct response, Mathematics 2 marks per correct response, and Biology 1 mark per correct response.

The MHT CET 2027 syllabus will be published on the official website and will cover all topics to be tested in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology. The difficulty level is based on the Maharashtra State Board Class 11 & 12 syllabus. For CBSE students, MHT CET follows the Maharashtra State Board syllabus, not NCERT, though there is approximately 80–85% overlap. The examination will be conducted in English for Mathematics, while Physics, Chemistry, and Biology sections will be available in English, Marathi, or Urdu.
