MHT CET 2027 syllabus released: Class 11 topics get 20% weightage
In short
- The MHT CET 2027 syllabus is based on the Maharashtra State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) curriculum.
- Approximately 20% weightage will be given to the Class 11 curriculum and 80% to the Class 12 curriculum in the question paper.
- There will be no negative marking in the MHT CET 2027, which will be a Computer Based Test (CBT).
- The difficulty level for Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry will be at par with JEE Main, and for Biology, it will be at par with NEET.
- The first attempt for MHT CET 2027 is expected as early as mid-December 2026, with candidates having two attempts a year since 2026.
The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Maharashtra, has released the MHT CET 2027 syllabus and marking scheme for admission to First Year of Engineering and Technology, Pharmacy Degree Courses, B.Planning, and First Year of Master of Engineering and Technology (Integrated), Pharm.D PG Degree courses. The examination is Maharashtra’s biggest engineering entrance exam, affecting a large number of aspirants seeking admission to various professional programs across the state.

The MHT CET syllabus is based on the Maharashtra State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) curriculum, not the CBSE syllabus. A significant aspect of the updated scheme is the distribution of weightage, with approximately 20% of the questions drawn from the Class 11 curriculum and 80% from the Class 12 curriculum. Questions will primarily be application-based, requiring students to apply concepts to numerical and situation-based problems.
MHT CET 2027 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
The MHT CET 2027 will consist of three question papers, all comprising Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). Each paper will be of 100 marks, and the duration for each paper is 90 minutes. There will be no negative marking in the MHT CET. The difficulty level for Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry will be at par with JEE (Main), while for Biology, it will be at par with NEET.
For candidates opting for the PCM group, the total questions will be 150 MCQs (50 per subject) with a total of 200 marks (Physics 50, Chemistry 50, Maths 100). Physics and Chemistry questions carry 1 mark each, while Mathematics questions carry 2 marks each. The MHT-CET has had two attempts a year since 2026, with the better percentile counting for the Centralized Admission Process (CAP). The first attempt for 2027 is anticipated as early as mid-December 2026.
| Paper | Subject | No. of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) based on Std. XI | No. of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) based on Std. XII | Mark(s) Per Question | Total Marks | Duration in Minutes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paper I | Mathematics | 10 | 40 | 2 | 100 | 90 |
| Paper II | Physics | 10 | 40 | 1 | 100 | 90 |
