MCC NEET SS 2025 special stray round: choice filling ends September 30

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has revised the schedule for the NEET SS Counselling 2025 Special Stray Vacancy Round. As per the updated timeline, the choice filling process for eligible candidates concludes today, September 30, 2026. This special round is designed to allocate vacant Super Speciality (SS) medical seats that remained unfilled after previous counselling rounds.

Candidates who have qualified for NEET SS 2025 are eligible to participate and must visit the official MCC portal, mcc.nic.in, to complete their preferences. The NEET SS counselling process covers MCh/DM/DNB Super Speciality seats across India, with the entrance test conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).

Revised Schedule and Key Dates

The MCC issued notices regarding the extension of the Special Stray Vacancy Round schedule on September 23, 2026, and September 28, 2026. The revised schedule indicates that choice filling ends today, September 30, 2026. Multiple choices are permitted during this phase, but choice locking is mandatory.

Previously, choice locking for the Stray Round NEET SS Counselling was scheduled from September 28, 2026, 8:00 PM, to September 29, 2026, 12:00 PM. The Special Round Declaration of Result was set for September 30, 2026, with reporting at allotted colleges from October 1 to 6, 2026. Candidates are advised to refer to the latest MCC notice on mcc.nic.in for the most current dates for choice locking, seat allotment processing, result declaration, and college reporting.

Application Process and Financial Requirements

The NEET SS counselling is conducted entirely online through the MCC portal. To participate, candidates are required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of ₹5,000. Also, a refundable security deposit of ₹2,00,000 is mandatory.

The security deposit is refunded only if a candidate does not join the allotted seat or surrenders the seat within the stipulated time. Document verification is a mandatory step that must be completed at the institute once a seat has been allotted. Candidates should ensure all original documents are ready for the reporting process.

Previous Counselling Rounds and Cutoff Scores

The NEET SS counselling process typically involves multiple rounds, including Round 1, Round 2, and subsequent stray vacancy rounds. Round 1 registration and payment were open from March 10 to March 15, 2026, with choice filling from March 14 to March 18, 2026. The final result for Round 1 was declared on March 18, 2026, and reporting to colleges was from March 19 to March 25, 2026.

Round 2 registration and payment were available from March 28 to April 3, 2026, with choice filling from March 29 to April 4, 2026. The final result for Round 2 was expected on April 7, 2026, with reporting concluding by April 16, 2026. The NEET SS 2025 cutoff scores out of 600 varied by speciality group, with Respiratory Medicine Group having a cutoff of 365, ENT Group at 350, and Orthopaedics Group at 254.
