NEET SS 2025: Register by Sep 28, 3 PM; Fill choices by Sep 29

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) today, September 28, 2026, released the special stray round seat matrix for NEET Super Speciality (SS) Counselling 2025. This matrix, available on the official MCC website under the Super Speciality Counselling section, details vacant seats for Doctorate of Medicine (DM), Master of Chirurgiae (MCh), and DNB Super Speciality (DNB SS) programmes.

The Special Stray Vacancy Round is being conducted in compliance with a Supreme Court order dated September 17, 2026, which reduced the NEET SS 2025 qualifying percentile from 50th to 30th. This round aims to fill the 1,814 DM, MCh, and DNB SS seats that remained vacant after Round 2 of SS counselling.

Details of the NEET Ss 2025 Seat Matrix

The released seat matrix is 68 pages long and provides detailed details for candidates. It includes information such as the course, stream, state, institute, quota, branch, category, and the total number of seats available. Candidates can check institute-wise and speciality-wise vacancies across various super speciality groups, including Medical, Surgical, Anaesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, and Paediatrics.

The matrix covers both DM/MCh and DNB SS programmes offered by participating government, private, and deemed institutions. Vacancies from several states and Union Territories, including Tamil Nadu, are included. In-service vacant seats from Tamil Nadu, if any remain after the state counselling Stray Round, are expected to be reverted by the state counselling authority today, September 28, 2026, and then added to the All India SS Counselling 2025 seat matrix.

Eligibility and Participation in the Special Stray Vacancy Round

The NEET SS Special Stray Vacancy Round is a non-upgradation round. Candidates who were not allotted any seat in Round 1 or Round 2 are eligible to participate. Also, candidates who became eligible following the reduction of the qualifying percentile from 50th to 30th percentile can also participate in this round.

Candidates who were allotted a seat in Round 1 or Round 2 but did not join are permitted to participate after fresh registration and fee payment. Similarly, fresh registration and payment of applicable fees are required for candidates who exited the counselling process with forfeiture.

Key Dates for NEET Ss 2025 Special Stray Vacancy Round

The registration window for the Special Stray Vacancy Round opened on September 25, 2026. Candidates have until 3 PM today, September 28, 2026, to complete their registration. The fee payment window closes at 6 PM on September 28, 2026. Choice filling is scheduled from September 25 to September 29, 2026, with choice locking occurring from 8 PM on September 28 to 12 noon on September 29, 2026.

The seat allotment processing is scheduled for September 29, 2026, and the results of the Special Stray Vacancy Round will be released on September 30, 2026. Following the result, reporting at the allotted institutions is scheduled between October 1 and October 6, 2026.
