Maharashtra’s State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell announced on October 28, 2026, that 14,877 B.Pharmacy and Pharm.D seats across the state remained vacant following the completion of four Centralised Admission Process (CAP) rounds for the academic year 2026-27. The official press release, issued from the CET Cell’s public relations office in Mumbai, detailed the outcome of the admission drive for first-year Bachelor of Pharmacy (a four-year course) and Doctor of Pharmacy (a six-year course) programs.

The centralised admission process, which spanned 528 pharmacy colleges with a total of 47,192 available seats, saw 29,040 students secure admissions. To address the significant number of unfilled seats, an institutional-level admission process was initiated, running from October 25, 2026, to October 29, 2026, allowing colleges to coordinate direct admissions for the remaining vacancies.
CAP Rounds Conclude with Vacancies
The four rounds of the Centralised Admission Process, designed to simplify admissions based on MHT CET 2026 results, concluded with a substantial number of seats still available. The first CAP round admitted 16,734 students, followed by 7,432 in the second round, 2,960 in the third, and 1,914 in the fourth and final round. These figures collectively account for the 29,040 admissions made through the centralised system.
The distribution of admissions across the CAP rounds is detailed below:
| CAP Round | Students Admitted |
|---|---|
| First Round | 16,734 |
| Second Round | 7,432 |
| Third Round | 2,960 |
| Fourth and Final Round | 1,914 |
Institutional Admissions and Unfilled Quotas
Following the conclusion of the CAP rounds, an institutional-level admission process was launched to fill the 14,877 vacant seats. This process, which closed on October 29, 2026, allowed colleges to manage admissions directly for available seats. During this period, 1,990 management quota seats were also opened for admissions.
However, an additional 3,275 seats were not included in this institutional admission round. These comprise 2,866 seats designated for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category and 409 seats under the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS). According to the CET Cell, EWS and TFWS seats are exclusively filled through the earlier centralised CAP rounds and are not part of the institutional-level admissions.
MHT CET 2026 and Eligibility Criteria
Admission to B.Pharmacy and Pharm.D programs in Maharashtra for the 2026-27 academic year was based on the MHT CET 2026 result. Candidates were required to appear for the MHT CET 2026 exam from the PCB stream, which was tentatively conducted in April 2026 in online mode. Eligibility criteria for Maharashtra B.Pharmacy colleges mandated that students pass the higher secondary examination in the science stream with an aggregate of at least 50% marks. Reserved category candidates from Maharashtra needed to secure a 45% aggregate score in the qualifying exam, along with a non-zero score in the CET exam conducted by the Competent Authority.
The application fee for MHT CET 2026 was INR 800 for General Category and J&K Students, and INR 600 for Reserved Category Candidates from Maharashtra, including Persons with Disabilities (PwD). The MHT CET exam is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ).
