Mumbai University today, on 2 September 2026, officially launched a new Apprenticeship Embedded B.E. Degree Programme (AEDP) for its final-year engineering students. This fresh programme aims to bridge the critical gap between theoretical classroom learning and the practical skills demanded by the professional world, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and AICTE guidelines.

The AEDP allows a select cohort of final-year B.E. students to undertake a full year of intensive industry training during their seventh and eighth semesters, providing them with invaluable hands-on experience and professional skill development before graduation.

The newly introduced Apprenticeship Embedded B.E. Degree Programme (AEDP) by Mumbai University is designed to offer a unique blend of academic rigour and practical industry exposure. Under this programme, eligible final-year B.E. students will engage in a year-long industry training, specifically during their seventh and eighth semesters. Students are required to complete a minimum of 1,260 hours of practical training to successfully fulfill the programme requirements, for which they will earn 42 academic credits.

Eligibility for the AEDP is stringent, with only up to 15% of final-year B.E. students being able to participate. Prospective candidates must achieve a minimum of 6.75 CGPA by the end of their fifth semester to be considered. The selection process will be based on merit, with a clear preference given to students demonstrating a higher CGPA. Students currently pursuing Honours, Minor, or Honours with Research programmes are not eligible to apply for the AEDP.
